It is so subjective and
It is so subjective and personal this whole "Naked Thing, isn't it?" I am so well aware of my personality type, that no matter who said what to me, I would never, ever go naked! And it has noting to do actually with cancer, or treatment or anyting else..it is all about simply how I feel about me! I never went anywhere without some type of headcovering~whether it was a bandana, hat, fake bangs or a wig and false eyelashes, no matter if it was a million degrees outside, and yeah~ I was miserable and melting!!! I slept with a bandana so Reggie wouldn't see me 'naked", and kept an extra under my pillow in case the one I was wearing slipped off, and even showered in the dark so as not to have to catch a glimpse of myself first thing when I got out of the shower. Reggie didn't care if I had hair or not, Siobhan didn't care, my sister didn't care~NOBODY cared, actually. But I cared, and so I never went naked! I have really never cared about what "other people think"; I care about what I think! LOL LOL Oh well....I am both envious and proud of you for having the guts and experiencing the liberating feeling! Awesome!!!

What you did Lupe took so much courage! You are such a brave warrior! And, I know that it had to feel so wonderful to finally ditch the scarf!
I never had to go thru chemo, which I thank God for, but, in reading in all that you sisters in pink go through with it, I truly admire all of you!
And, isn't it wonderful that another sister gave you the courage to do this! We truly are a sisterhood!
I bet you look beautiful!

Good for you for doing that!
Good for you for doing that! You have such a beautiful face and am sure you look just as beautiful with nothing on your head!! It is what all women need to see, that courage and strength!!
I pulled my scarf off a few months ago after working out and feeling like I had a wet rag on my head. Then I realised I needed to go around with nothing on my head because we are all beautiful no matter what. I really wanted to be an example to all women and what I have come to experience, that even in my 30lbs of extra weight, no hair on my head and missing a nipple, I can still feel good in my body, I can still feel beautiful and believe it or not still feel quite sexy.
I am enjoying this new look, would never have chosen it but I have learnt probably for the first time in life to truly love my body just the way it is.0 -
KNOCKOUT!!!
Beautiful Beautiful picture Lupe. My chemo starts next week. I have no idea how I'm going to handle losing my hair. If I look half as pretty as you do I think I'll have no problem. Thank you, really, for sharing your picture.
*hugs*

it is very liberating!
I was so worried about making others uncomfortable...that poor lady with cancer...but the neighbors that have seen me during my morning walks greet me just as they always have.
I thoroughly understand and appreciate the benefit of keeping my head from getting sunburned. As my activity level increased I found myself constantly tugging and adjusting my assorted headgear. I was more self-conscious and simply reached a point of not giving a flying fig! It felt as though I was hiding and ashamed.
I did head, pun intended, over to my local breast cancer store, for lack of a better name for it...I wanted a softer form and another sleeve. I found myself commenting on my hairlessness to the owner that was assisting me. One of the women working there heard me, got up from her desk and showed me a picture of herself at a party au naturale! I have yet to muster up the courage to consent to a photograph though.
Ultimately, as I said, my personal comfort means a lot more than raised eyebrows of people I don't know that might choose to be offended. And it's their choice, I'll exercise mine.
Lupe, you look great!0 -

Kudos to you Lupe. It takes
Kudos to you Lupe. It takes a lot of courage but once we take that step and go 'naked" it is so freeing to the mind and soul. My hair is grey and very short and I'm wearing it quite proudly. Occasionally I'll notice someone staring at my head and I just think you should only know why this hair is so short and then I smile at them and move on.0
