No port here
I just could'nt do it after all that I had gone through, it felt too me that it was too invasive.
And I had good veins, however all the other people that were in the infusion center seemed to get along with there's just fine.
Good Luck with your decision.

I wasn't thrilled about getting my port but when I thought of 12 weeks of chemo and all the blood draws in one arm or hand, I listened to others and had the port installed. Its called a power port and can be used for other infusions. It was sore at first but now it feels okay and I'm glad I got it. I have good veins so that wasn't the problem. I make keep the port for awhile because I have a lot of blood draws from other health issues. My chemo dept. told me a lot of people keep them for years without any complications. Sounds like you made the right decision for you and glad your son was there with you. I had my first chemo treatment the same day the port was installed. Went from the recovery room to the chemo dept. Wishing you well.0
