Hi John. COuld it be the prednisone withdrawal? My husband would always be ok for the first week after chemo (except for the nausea on and off) and then one or 2 days after stopping the prednisone, he'd completely crash...he'd be irritated, then sort of depressed, then like he wants to kill someone, but his energy would be completely out. he usually snaps out of it in a couple of days or so.
Hope you feel better soon. You too Vinny.0 -

Hoppy, I don't know for sure. I was on the 100mg for 5 days. I don't know the side effects of the pred. I know it made me hungry as heck after the 3 rd day. I don't have that hunger feeling anymore. I am thinking the chemo is still working, but then again I am not sure if thats the case or not. John0 -

I was on prednisone myself a couple of years ago and know how its crash could make one feel so down. Like drug addicts that are dragging themselves around with no energy and are irritated for no apparant reason. Mind you I was only on 20mg a day.
Hubby has it bad. Once he stops the pred. he's ok for the following day, then all hell breaks loose. His oncologist warned him beforehand about the withdrawal symptoms, so he knew what to expect.
I am sure chemo of all sorts just destroys a person. So pred or whatever it is, I feel sorry you guys are going through this rough time. I am sure it'll be over fast and all of you will be CURED (yes cured, I just hate saying remission) . Lots of prayers.0 -

My mom had breast cancer a few years ago, and she heard the same story about not having a cure for cancer and all that. Her doctor was such a great person who told her not to listen to all that crap (pardon my french) and that after chemo and radiation she should consider herself cured. And with this in mind, she is now living her life normally with all that cancer hell behind her. She even stopped worrying about every single thing she feels like at the beginning.
Hubby's onc told us at the very first meeting after confirming his lymphoma that she will be working with him until he is CURED. She used that word, not remission and it made all the differnce to my husband.
Keep the faith John. The cure is there, it's just that doctors are afraid of using this word because of the few cases who relapse for no apparant reason. Not everyone's body works the same. And Lymphoma is one of the easy cancers too. Decades back it wasn't even called Lymphoma cancer, it was just called the lymphoma disease.0 -

What is your hubbys diagnosis? There are so many forms of lymphoma out there. I know I counted so many I stopped counting after a while. Mine is Follicular indolent Stage 4. I do feel like the chemo is working after 2 rounds of r-cvp. John0 -

His is just like yours, Follicular grade one stage 4B... he had many B symptoms for almost a year before he was finally diagnosed. His lymphoma was in almost all his lymph node groups and spleen and bone marrow too . He's on R-CHOP Because it has spread too much and his doctor wanted to be aggressive right from the start.
Like you he felt it working after the 2nd or 3rd round, and the bulging lymph node son his neck started to shrink.0 -

Hoppy, I wish you all the best with your hubby. This stuff is such a pain in the butt. Like you were saying it was considered a lymph disease years ago. It seems anything they can't identify is considered cancer anymore. Makes me wonder when all this cancer stuff is going to stop. With all the technology today I can't understand it. John0 -
