Hi!!
Thank you!!! My surgery is Thursday morning! I was meaning to get on here last night but my husband and I ended up staying up late & watching a movie. I've been getting things done around the house, and the other day I bought a new bedspread & sheets & pillows for my bed, and a bunch of new candles for my bedroom...trying to make my space nice & cozy for me My nerves are better than my posts a few days ago, I've made peace with my traitor boob, as well as my other one who's become a victim by association - i had my pre-op appt with my plastic surgeon today (and I love him oh so much, he's just a great guy!) and his excitement for me & my final results just made my day. I also have some friends at the hospital where I'm having my surgery & from what they told me, my husband Tim will be able to stay overnight with me (girls are staying with grandma!). I was scared of all the "what if's" - namely, what if they find cancer in some, many, or all of my lymph nodes, what if it's spread to other organs, what if I have complications---but now I have the gloves off and I'm ready to fight. I have these 2 beautiful girls and a wonderful man who need me to be around for a very long time, and with everything they've given me so far in my life, it's the least I can do for them to stick around. So, tomorrow night I'm going to bed early, we're dropping the baby off at my cousin's house around 8 in the morning, I have to be in the hospital at 9 a.m., and my surgery is at noon. Thank you all for your encouragement and prayers, I know you'll be with me

Hi, glad you were able to make peace with that trouble making boob. I've had the conversation with mine too. It's just got to go! Will be thinking of you through out the day. I find out today what the final decision of the insurance will be for mine. One or both. The surgeon and I want a bilateral but the insurance is dragging it's feet on the bi. so,.... Anyway.. glad you like your doctors that sure makes things better. I met my anesthesiologist yesterday at preadmission and he's awesome. He has a very friendly laid back personality. Very funny and calming. You get yours done Thursday, just when you will be waking I will be going in to get my radioactive dye for the sentinel node. Then Friday morning I get my mast. done. So, we are really going through this together. Good Luck! I will be praying and thinking of you and holding your hand through yours and mine. Here we go....0 -

Love your new
Heather,
Love your new haircut! I want you to know I will be keeping you and your family in my thoughts and prayers. Everything will be fine, and by Friday, the surgery will be over and you can focus on recovering. It was a big relief to me to know that the cancer was out of my body. It is a scary next step, one you have to go through, and you will be so glad to have the surgery complete. You are right, your family needs you here, and you will be. For a long, long time!
Sending prayers,

Hi Heather wishing you a peaceful Thursday morning. Yes we need to get rid of the what ifs and happy to hear you have done just that. This BC does steal some of our time, but it doesnt have to steal our spirit, mind set, happiness and our lives. You have so much to return to when this surgery and treatment is over.0 -

Ugh I hope your insurance company gets on the ball. I really think there needs to be some major changes with how the medical (and insurance) community handles breast cancer issues. My family & friends are betting that I turn into Ms. Breast Cancer Activist when this is all said & done because of my outspoken attitude! I will be thinking of you also through this and knowing that we're going through this together is really comforting to me
Praying all goes well with your surgery, and I'll talk to you again in a few days and we can compare our war wounds

Thank you Michelle
That is how I'm looking at this -not losing my boobs but getting this "effing" cancer out of me. My fears about how I will look after the surgery were completely squashed by my plastic surgeon -he's this huuuge guy, I'd say about 6ft5 in, 280-300 maybe -just a big gentle giant lol. He's about as excited as my husband and I are about my reconstruction, and so reassuring. Thank you for your prayers and warm tnoughts, they are more comforting and calming than anything else!
*hugs*

i love you all!
Thank you all so much for your prayers, kind words, and encouragement. They mean SO MUCH to me, and have really helped me make peace with the situation. I am actually anticipating my surgery, even the chemo, to get all the sickness out of me and start healing. I'm so greatful for all of you wonderful women (and a few guys too!) that are on this site. Those of you with whom I've spoken on here, who have offered me insight, hope, prayers -and those who i maybe haven't talked to on here but who have shared your experiences with posts on here that have given me reassurance and many answers to my many questions. I know you will all be there with me tomorrow & that makes it a little bit less scary for me
I'm blessed with such a wonderful husband who will be by my side until they make him leave lol - and a couple higher-ups at the hospital I'm having my surgery at who are pulling strings for me to make sure I have a private room so that Tim can stay with me.
I hope that as I go through my treatments and recovery, I can be an inspiration to another woman new to this whole breast cancer experience, like so many of you have been to me!
I'm looking at 1-2 nights in the hospital, I'll be posting and updating shortly after I'm back home this weekend!
*big hugs*
