i just read the post on the concerns about getting too much radiation and i wanted to pass on that there is a new ct scanner out there called the Siemens Flash ct scanner. I live in a very small town and we recently got this scanner and it was a very big deal and made the news all around....we were the 14th in the nation to have one installed. the rest are mostly at the big hospitals. i know mayo clinic has 4 but are not currently used for follow up cancer screenings-The scanner is so quick that it can scan an entire body in just seconds this providing much less radiation than with previous scanners.you dont need to hold your breath during the scan anymore either. they can also use it to diagnose heart problems that before they had to do invasive procedures to do.
There should be more going into hospitals all the time and hopefully a facility near you will have one soon. this may help alleviate some of the fears about the massive amount of scans we get.
