Does Doxil hurt or damage the heart?

I went supposedly for my last treattment of doxil but my doctor wants me to have a couple more treatments. When the nurse was administering the doxil and found out I had to take some more treatments, she was going to ask the doctor about taking another MUGA scan. This kind of worried me. Does anyone have any info on this?

I had a MUGA scan
before my doxil started. I think you can be on it for a year or so, depending on your dosage, if you have a healthy heart. I'm sure your doc is keeping track of that. Some order a new MUGA after 7 or 8 doses. I was due for one, but then stopped the doxil, so didn't need to.0 -
MUGA too
I had a MUGA scan too. I was told the new form of Doxil is much safer for the heart then the old style. I believe it is encapsulated in fat....I forget right now...chemo brain.
I was told a person can safely take Doxil for quite awhile. I only had 5 infusions.0 -
Doxil is a form of
Doxil is a form of Adriamycin encapsulated in a liposome (sp?). There is a maximum lifetime dose recommendation. I had used up part of mine with breast cancer treatment years ago, so they had to review my records before starting Doxil of which I would only be able to stay on for a limited time. --Annie0 -
