I finished my chemo Feb25th 6 rounds carbo taxol, Cat scan Ned April 8th CA125 9.2. I am still getting a lot of abdominal discomfort not sharp pains sorenes and stomache ache and a bit of bloating. I have been trying new foods and spices in my diet and drinking more organic fruit juice. I also have gas not as bad as after the chemo. My nueropathy is worse, but I know that is to be expected. I wondered if anyone else has had these promlems. Love to you all Oska.

    try not to worry
The gas and stomach pain was and still is always my biggest source of worry. You have a great ca125! During my inital remission I always had some abdominal discomfort. I too tried to eat more healthy and ended up having bowel spasms similar to bowel obstruction. I'd go to the ER have a scan done and there was never an obstruction/cancer seen. Since I stopped adding all that stuff my stomach has been better. No more bowel spasms. Change your diet slowly, not all at once. I think my ongoing bowel symptoms is what brought me to this board.

Memorial Sloan Kettering has a link about herbs and other stuff that is very informative:

Good luck, enjoy your time off chemo. Try not to worry. Easier said then done, I know.

    Bloating
Hiya, bloating is also a problem for me too. I've been off chemo now since March but can't help worrying sometimes when I go to bed or in the evening that my stomach is extended. However, in the morning it is back to normal. I think it must be our bodies getting rid of the remains of the poison (chemo) still. I know my adbominal area was bombarded with chemo and full of fluid before chemo. So I guesss there is no wonder it is taking some time to get "back to normal" I know there is nothing there cos my CT scan was good and CA 125 is down to 34.

I am trying to eat a healthy diet and do exercise, but I notice whenever I drink wine I now have this bloated reaction. I am thinking that maybe my liver can't cope with alcohol anymore??? I used to be OK but is it possible that the chemo had put too much pressure on my liver and now I have a low tolerance for alcohol?

    My Doctor....
My Doctor had told me- as well as my Onc. nurse- that I probably would feel discomfort in my abdomen for a long time after I had my hysterectomy. I never really had pains, and bloating was a once in awhile thing- but my midsection just felt...off. They explained to me that when he went in he had to move things around to remove the tumors & 'parts' and it takes the body time to adjust to the new 'routing' of things- if that makes sense. I've pretty much been a healthy eater for a long time (my husband had been diabetic for over 20 yrs), so I was fortunate diet didn't affect me adversely. Unless you count the extra 10 lbs I'm hauling around now!! LOL Everything is a new 'norm' now I guess. Try to enjoy your time off the chemo! Beth
