how megace works for ER positive

After my chemo and radiation, doctor prescribe me for megace. Does anyone of you here took this medicine? how accurate this medicine to block the estrogen. I am almost 1 year taking this medicine. i always did a quarterly check up and only physical exam by my oncologist. No Laboratory and imaging examinations. Hope this medicine succeed in blocking from bad cells to form.
