Things to prevent recurrence in ALL.
My 6 year old son was diagnosed with ALL in January 2010. Everything turned dark and I was very down. Doctor said he is responding well to the treatment. But I'm very scared of what it's called a relapse. Could you please give me some advise how to prevent, lifestyle .... or diet, maybe...??? Especially for you who are a long term survivors, pls share....

I don't know of any specific diet that has solid proof of preventing relapse. The only thing I can tell you is that maintenance therapy is the most crucial part of the treatment. My ALL was very advanced and high risk so even after induction and remission I had to endure a BMT to prevent relapse. And even after all of that I still relapsed shortly after and had to do chemo all over again. A year after therapy I'm still on monthly vincristine, daily mercaptopurine, weekly MTX, and intrathecal MTX every 3 months. Your son's maintenance therapy will probably be similar. Sounds like he's doing well and won't need a risky BMT to prevent relapse. Remember to stay strong and I wish you both the best of luck!
