Someone on another site noted this and I thought it was too good not to share - Merck announced the launch of the Oncology Collaborative Cancer Trials Network today.

Some of the participants: Mayo Clinic Cancer Center, MD Anderson Cancer Center, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center + more, as well as cancer centers in 8 other countries.

This is good! Read on!

    Merck trial
Hi, stayingcalm. I believe this is the trial that my oncologist said I could qualify for U of PA is participating in it. When it was offered I didn't think it sounded like a good idea for me. But They were working on a vaccine to prevent lung cancer. The thing that turned me off was that maybe one of the side effects was HIV. They had a similiar drug that the side effect was HIV and they didn't know if this would do the same thing. I am a very early stage cancer and didn't feel comfortable pumping my body with things until I have to.If you would like I still have the paper work. Hopefully, they will have great success with this. something to keep your eye on.

    Not a trial
    Catcon49,
This isn't a trial, it's a collaborative network of cancer researchers and centers that will hopefully lead to new trials, most likely with treatments developed by Merck since they're the company behind this. I didn't know about this trial drug that has HIV as a possible side effect - sounds horrible! You were definitely right to turn it down!

Well, I'm hoping some good things will come out of this project :)
