not cancer related per se, but mom has hemorrhoids (exterior).
we've tried preparation H, desitin (heard zinc oxide is good for them), tucks suppositories and wipes, and dibocaine...still in lots of pain.
shes been taking percocet for pain but im sure thats not making it any better (causes constipation), and eating high fiber, lots of water, and colace/senocot.
i had them over 10 years ago and remember what a pain in the... it was. besides just waiting it out, anyone have any rememdies that would help?
many thanks.

Surgery?
This might be an option to consider. I had internal and external after a rectal resection and it was the only cure as things got to where they were severely obstructed.
Surgery cleared it up and it took several weeks of taking multiple sitz baths until things healed - sat on a doughnut as well to ease the pressure of sitting down.

Vaseoline
I am 67 and had hemmorrhoids since having children. Have tried everything over the years, but in my experience, I would not have survived without plain old vaseoline. Thru all the diahhera (constant from 12/08 till at least 10/09). I finally learned to take a hot bath or just sit in hot tub and use vaseoline and that worked great for me. It might not be for everyone, but the prescriptions, suppositories, other creams never helped, except for this. I don't leave home without it(not the tub)......I might have been lucky but give it a try..Pat0
