So, yesterday I went to a Blues Festival~ wonderful music, good friends, dancing, wine and laughter! It was over 90 degrees, and you will be happy to know that I did not sunburn AT ALL~ even tho I was outside for 8 hours . Sunscreen~ ahhhhhh. I kept the 70SPF in my ice chest, and every 30 mins or so I would mist myself~ the suncsreen was icy-cold which felt wonderful, but more than that No Sunburn! YAY

But I digress...my daughter/niece, who is a 4th sememster culinary student, and a friend of mine who is a wine-maker, asked if I thought it would be ok if they hosted a wine-maker dinner, with all of the proceeds going to Cancer Reaearch~ all of the money would be given to me to give to whomever I deemed needed it! Well not just yeah, but hell yeah!

Thought you would want to know about a few more wonderful people out there who want to not just see an end to cancer , but are actually doing something about it! WOOT! WOOT!

:-)

Hugs,
Chen♥

How do you get sunscreen to
How do you get sunscreen to 'mist'? All I've ever had was/is thick and would have gone through a spray bottle.

    The winemaker actually makes
The winemaker actually makes awesome pizza, Traci! He has a brick oven, and last summer I hosted a gazpacho party for 40 with about 12 toppings, and my friend made pizzas outdoors in the brick oven~ so yeah! It could happen! :-)

What a great and cooling idea
I went out today applying sunscreen before I left home. After walking about an hour I head home since I could feel my sunscreen dripping down my body. Your idea of using the mist or spray and keeping it on ice or in the cooler sounds wonderful.I'm going to try that. Thanks for sharing.

    Cool Mist
    Greetings,

The idea of having the sunscreen mist cooled on ice is amazing. I went online to drugstore.com and immediately ordered both products that Susan mentioned. There was even an online coupon for the Aveeno product.

Even though I don't anticipate loosing the hair for another three weeks or so, I thought I'd go ahead and get "stocked up"!

I even ordered the "It's A Wrap" head scarf from Laurie at franceluxe.com She answered my email right away and I feel good to have that option as well!

This site is incredible and offers so many good ideas.

Thank you to all who offer their insight and inspiration.

    Best to you all,

Truth be told...I did a lot
Truth be told...I did a lot of this even when I DIDN'T have the energy! There are a lot of outdoor concerts and things in my neck of the woods, easy to get to, and not much preparation involved. While I was in treatment I was beyond tired~ a Twilight Zone kind of exhaustion enveloped my entire being. So, I figured if I was going to be tired, I wasn't going to be tired at home~ I was going to be tired listening to live music, and even when I didn't have the energy to dance, it was fun hearing the laughter and spend time talking with people, and sharing picnic treats! We didn't always stay for the whole evening, but it was oh so nice to be out and about and sorta kinda forget for a few hours.

I always said the Beast was NEVER going to kill me...no matter what an "official" document might say~ I was dying of fun, laughter, and its resultant exhaustion! And, 7 years later, I'm still here laughing! Don't give up looking forward~ there is a future out there with your name on it!

Ok where are you at so we all can come and feast!!!! I'm hungry now. If your not close to
Texas my daughter has a free round trip ticket I could use. LOL Or maybe we could
charter a BUS and pick up everyone on the way. THE MORE THE MERRIER.
Just think of all the fun we could have. Especially all dressed in PINK.
I think we could round up a door prize with the person with the most PINK on. What you
    think??

My Motto: The cancer won the 1st battle and I won the 2nd but the war is not over for

    GOOD LUCK TO YOU

    I was in Central California
I was in Central California in a town called Avila Beach~ it was their 18th annual Blues Festival. Ivan Neville's "DumpstaFunk" band, Tower Of Power, and Johnny Lang~ incredible music!

Side note about Tower Of Power...when the Livestong Bracelets were first released, a fellow warrior from CSN, who had the same cancer as Lance A and had come to know him, was given one of the first of the Yellow Bracelets. He actually got more than one, and sent me one. Tower of Power was playing a gig at the Casino ( I live less than 1/4 mile from the Casino) and after the show, my sweetie and I went up to the bar. I think I was still in treatment; can't quite remember! Anyway, one of the band members, keyboardist Roger Smith was sitting next to me at the bar~ also wearing the tell-tale bracelet. We bumped wrists, smiled knowingly, and he told me he was (at that time) a one year survivor, and I boldly asked if he would trade bracelets with me. And he did! How cool is that? Little did we know that the bracelets would become a world-wide phenom...and we have ( and traded) a couple of the first!

I am soo soo happy to report that he is STLL playing with the band~ I saw him yesterday!YAY

Tere, you and I think alike!
When I first came to this board, I pretty much always kept drugstore.com open in another window as I was reading posts, and kept putting suggested products in my shopping list.

By the time I started radiation, I had a great list of suggestions from the ladies here, which I took with me to my meeting with the nurse at the radiation center. It made me feel more prepared to have some ideas just a mouse click away once the nurse approved them.

Whatever did I do before drugstore.com?
