Please pray for Pat Kapper and Carrie

Everything is quite different here at the Kapper house since my last post on Monday, 5/10. As of the very next day, the fluids were taken away and since that took place, there will be no possibiity of the laparoscopic procedure I spoke of.Pat, Carrie and girls, I have remember you all in prayer and will continue to do so. I'm so very thankful Pat's pain can be controlled and that he's with those he loves during his last days.
Tuesday morning, I woke up to Pat breathing like he was having difficulty and he was extremely lathargic. He couldn't even talk to me - all he did was mumble. I called hospice and they came right a way. They noticed changes in him as well from the day before. They said that giving him fluids would do him more harm than good as his body is going through too many changes and they are afraid the fluids won't get absorbed properly and therefore go into his lungs.
A hospital bed was ordered and delivered that same day as well as an oxygen tank to be used as needed. He is drinking very little compared to before and he is eating less and less each day. He is extremely weak and cannot even sit-up on his own anymore. He sleeps almost all day and there are times when he is awake that he seems very confused.
Keep him in your thoughts and prayers and pray that his pain continues to stay under control during the time he has remaining. Talk to you all later.
Love, Pat and Carrie
Diane

sad
I still remember the phone conversation I had with Pat- I think it was in December- as I was getting ready to go see Dr. Cantrell. He was curious about it and was, I guess, considering it too. Of course that ended up not working for me either, but remembering Pat's vivasciousness on the phone and our conversation then makes me so sad now to hear of what has happened to him. I will most definitely keep him and Carrie in my thoughts and prayers. -

Journey
I have been following their journey on their caring bridge site. Carrie is quite the caregiver, she must have incredible strength and deep love for Pat. For those that don't know, they have 5 children. I am deeply saddened for them all and pray that Pat's pain continue to be controlled.
