Treatment Decision

A nurse told me of a website nccn.org that has a grid that shows choices for different levels of prostate cancer.........I went to the site, but was not able to find the grid.....hopefully one of the other posters on this site is a lot smarter than me, and can tell us what to access in order to find this grid.

Ira, emailing you something my oncologist gave me that might be what you're looking for.

I looked at the open part of the site, and could not find a "grid" (it almost seems, having been through the choice process, that reducing choices to that level would be terribly misleading).

What is there is an overview page:
http://www.nccn.com/prostate_cancer_overview.aspx

That page then has links to localized or advanced pages in the "Treatment" section.

The site seems very concise and useful.

However, your friend the nurse may have registered (I just did to see what was there) for the NCCN.org portion, and may be referring to the NCCN practice guidelines in oncology, which is the only thing that was free (this seems to be a professional, paid membership site). This doc, under Prostate cancer, has some flowcharts that suggest treatment paths. Without digging further, I suspect this is what she was describing.

Look at:

There is a section "quick links", under that NCCN guidelines - click there and it will tell you to register or login. You have to give a good bit of info, and it asks your company (use something the mailman won't refuse if you don't have a company). Then under profession it will offer "cancer survivor or caregiver" as an option - that's you.

I registered, they sent an invitation to me, and i found the grid that I will read very carfully.........I will post a page in a separate post for those with vey low clinically localized prostate cancer
