First scope
I dreaded it as well. I didn't have any pain meds or numbing of the area. Honestly, it didn't hurt that much at all. It was much better than I thought. I was surprised myself, but relieved. I've had another since then and the same results. Not pleasant, but not painful at all.
Wishing you the same. Good luck and we anxiously await your great results!

Hi, I had post tx exams, but the 1st one was 3 months later and I had a biopsy and hemroidectomy, so I had to be put under. My rad did a dre a month after that, which was painful, I shouldn't have let him do that, and he should have known better. My onc and colo-rectol didn't think he should have done that either. I am not going back to the rad, just the onc and colo. They alternate every 3 months I see one of them. It sounds like since you'll be numb and have pain meds you shouldn't feel anything. If you've never been numbed down there, just know you won't know if anything is passing through. They will give you pads to wear home. After I was numbed for surgery and later that day went to walgreens I had no idea that anything was passing through. Of course I had pads on. It sounds like your dr is taking the steps to ensure you won't feel pain. I wish you well. Lori0 -
My next scope is next Wed.
And I have not found them too bad. I do have one doozy of a hemorrhoid (at least I think it is) - external - but the enemas/scope don't bother it much. If I say "ouch" he apologizes and tells me he is almost done- and he is. My first one post treatment was Aug. 2008 - about 6 months after.
Mostly I just find them awkward... more ego-bruising than actually painful. And I am (so far) always very relieved to hear him say everything looks okay.
Hang in, my friend!
