diagnosed stage 4 - treatment thoughts

Hello,
New here, and to cancer. My dad had a large blood clot pushing on his cerebellum causing neurological symptoms. They removed the blood clot and then biopsied the area. He was then diagnosed on 4/7/10 with stage 4 non-small cell lung cancer that had metastasized to his brain. He has two small lesions on his lungs, the biggest is 2.2cm. He does not have lesions anywhere else in his body or in his brain. Since then he has had 15 sessions of radiation on his brain. Met with the oncologist today and does not want to do anything else until next month - wants to give him time to get his strength back.
I have researched this disease and the prognosis doesn't sound great, but after some things I have read here he could have a better chance than I thought.
So at this point, chemo is next, but I don't know anything about what his options are besides that. Any information, anyone is willing to share, would be wonderful. And anyone out there with a similar diagnosis, I'd love to chat with you.
Thanks for listening.
