Should I be worried about a brown lump on my leg?

I am 29 years old and have a small brown lump on my lower leg, should I be worried? My mother passed away from skin cancer, and I have not been great at sun screen on myself. Can anyone give me an idea of any signs I should be looking for? Thanks a lot, God bless.

Lump
Since you are posting on here, I'd presume that you are already concerned and worried. I'd have it checked out not only because you never know what the cause may be (especially in light of your family medical history), but also for piece of mind.....

Lump on leg
Yes you should check with a dermatologist and insist on a biopsy. It may be nothing, but it is better to find out with your family history. Melanoma is something you have to be vigilant about. If found early you have a good chance of survival. I know from my wife's experience. Signs you should be looking for are the spot rapidly growing and turning darker.
May God bless you.
