PROFILE...
DX IIIC in Dec. 2000 followed by surgery and chemo (TaxolCarbo). Remained in remission until Aug. 2007, when I had my first recurrence. I was treated with Taxol/Carbo, but switched midway to Taxotere/Carbo because of neuropathy. Was in remission for about 10 months, until my Oct. 2008 CA-125 showed another recurrence. In Nov. 2008 I began treatment with Doxil for this recurrence and it worked for about 6-7 months but then stopped. Next I went on Topotecan for 2 months but it did nothing for me. In Nov. 2009 I started Avastin and Cytoxan (daily pill). After 3 months my CA-125 went from 99 to 62, but a month later it was up to 68. It's usually pretty accurate for me so I was concerned. A CT scan at the end of Dec. 09 showed more tumor activity (by the liver), so we stopped the Avastin/Cytoxan and I will start Cisplatin/Gemzar tomorrow (1/13/10). I'm hoping this one works to at least get me back into remission for a while.
UPDATE...
Have been on Cisplatin/Gemzar since Jan. - it's a very rough combo to tolerate (mostly the Cisplatin). CA125 dropped from 69 to 23 after 4 treatments, so I'm hoping it keeps going in that direction and I can finally stop all this chemo (which I've been on since Nov. 08).
