Its not just....
Its not just insurance companies. Many corporations are now self insured and use health insurance companies to administer the plans. A ton of these companies lay off, fire, move employees to avoid the expense. I have seen at my Co (I wont name the world wide leader in IT services support) many people with cancer as well as other critical medical issues, come back and get caught up in resource actions or the new way to get rid of people.....tell them that thier job responsibilities have been transfered to another state and they need to report in 30 or 60 days to the new location. If they do not report it is considered a voluntary resignation. Its all 100% legal and means no RA package, no unemployment, no COBRA.
I am NOT telling my employer anything about my wifes situation, just taking vacation time when needed (Lucky to have 5 weeks and 1 day of time).0 -

Being Canadian
Back 14 years ago I can remember hearing from a lot of women who had that happen to them. My heart broke everytime to think that something like that could happen in our Industrialized Nations. I think that is when I totally realized there is a price to LIFE.
