Sirspheres, y-90, theraspheres...

My mom is getting this done as I type this. I'm just wondering what to expect after the therapy by way of nausea? Anyone had this recently that can give me some tips? Much appreciated.

    My mom is in recovery. She received Sirspheres this morning. She is experiencing nausea, but nothing too serious. I mean, she's had oxy two 12 rounders and folfiri one 12 round session. Says this is much easier than that.

    That's great that your mom did so well after the procedure. Sounds like she didn't experience the pain during the injection process either. Excellent! I hope the good things continue.

    ...Would love to hear about the whole procedure and how it went. I know your mom goes to the same hospital and Dr's as me, and this may even calm my fears, yet make others not so afaid of it. I'm afraid of the pain, or what is done in this procedure, and want to know how she's doing now, day by day, how long do they take you off chemo? I am really looking for that kind of break, that's for sure!

    So it's done at 1 or 2 separate times?? 1 lobe at a time? did she leave the hospital that night, or did she stay at the hospital?? I have so many questions, and don't know many who had this procedure, so let mom know we need her and your guidance, and keep all informed,how was she treated? I've always had really nice nurses.

    I wish her a speedy recovery, and hope she didn't get too queasy, they should just stick a shot of Zofran in her IV. Usually works pretty quick :)

    Donna-I'll give you as much info as I can and I'll PM you my phone number and you can call me and we can talk about it if you want. I'm not actually able to go be around her right now because the Doc said no babies for at least 3 days as a precaution. Since I'm still my little girls main source of food, I have to stay away.

    First, she was taken off chemo in February, so she has had about 10 weeks off. She went and got a hepatic angiogram. She said it was nothing, and that lying on the table afterward for a couple hours was the hardest part because it made her back hurt. After the procedure (they do this to make sure that you won't have too much radiation go to your lungs and also to map blood flow in your liver) the doctor determined she qualified. She was sore for a few days after the procedure and unable to lift anything over 5lbs, but for the most part, no sweat.

    Yesterday morning, we arrived very early and they took her in for the procedure which lasts between 5-7 hours. She said she experienced no pain during the procedure.

    After the procedure she was nauseated but they gave her IV zofran and that both alleviated the nausea and put her to sleep. They also prescribed some pain meds and a dissolvable anti-nausea med. Which for those of you who have problems swallowing pills, maybe you should suggest this to doc. I'll find out what it's called when I can go over to her house. Last night she was not feeling too bad, had a few waves of nausea but nothing compared to chemo. This morning, feeling slightly better than last night, just tired but the pain meds are knocking her out. I'll keep you posted as the day goes.

    I would love to talk to you about this, especially since it's done at The James, the same hospital I go to... did they take good care of her? I didn't realize it be like 5-7 hours though for the whole procedure, wow, that's about how long my colostomy took.

    I didn't know they had to see if you're "Qualified" before they do this, now I may be disappointed if I find out I'm not qualified. Did she have to be off chemo for 10 weeks before getting this done?? wow, that's a nice break! I'd be scared of something happening though, like it spreading between that time. I remember being off it for 2 months while I healed from the colostomy, though it wasn't so nice then, as I was hooked up to a wound vac for 5 weeks of that time. Then went back on chemo 2 weeks later.

    Is she taking her nausea pills? try having her take them even if she doesn't feel sick, maybe just to keep on top of it.

    My kids won't like being away from me for a few days, shoot, while they're at school, they come home just too see what they can do for me. Next month is their last month of school, till August, so they'll be with me ALL DAY AND NIGHT! LOL

    I would love to call you, pm me with it, we ought to do lunch! :)
