My dad finished all his appointments. Turns out it isn't esophageal cancer, but stomach cancer that spread to the bottom of his esophagus! It is in the first lining of the stomach and two lymph nodes look suspicious so they took fluid. It isn't in any other organs and we forgot to ask about the esophagus... We go back next week to see what the treatment options are. They said most likely it will be 6wks of chemo and radiation, and then surgery.

    God was definitely with us
God was definitely with us and gave me the strength to support my dad and do what needed to be done. I'm thankful that he still has enough opening to where he is able to eat. I'm glad we were able to go to MD Anderson, because they were extremely thorough. When my dad had tests in Mississippi, he was told it was only confined to his esophagus and that he would need a feeding tube put in the next week. He had a CT scan and everything! At MD Anderson we were told the hole for food to go through is 4cm bigger than they told us in MS, and the scans there showed it was in his stomach. We are blessed to be able to be at a good place.
