mouth sores
Hi Cathy,
Glad your chemo 2nd round is done. Now about the mouth sores, I was on the same drugs and when I got terrible mouth sores, I was given Acyclovir like for herpes and shingles and it helped tremendously and I take it while I am on a chemo regimen unless I forget to take it no sores. No reason for anyone to suffer with those if a med can help. Please ask your dr to give you some. I was in the hospital for the same regimen but it might have been because of my age, 65. I was told my hair would thin but not completely fall out. On taxotere after surgery, I have lost all my hair. Did they give you Aloxi during the chemo for nausea? and any anti nausea drugs for now? HOpe you feel better soon. Think it was wise to get the j tube I lost way too much weight before surgery and afterwards they made me keep it in for 3 months and still having weight issues. take care and hope things get better for you.

Thanks Donna for the info. I will call the Dr. tomorrow and ask for the Acyclovir. I am 63, close to your age. I did not get Aloxi during chemo. I got Zofran, and phenergan. Both worked well as long as I was lying down, but nothng worked when I sat up or got out of bed. I still have two more rounds to go and hope they go better than the last one. My sense of taste has not completely returned. Last time it took several days. It is so hard to eat when nothing tastes and your mouth hurts.

Hi Cathy,
My husband takes Ativan for his nausea -- it's a little pill that dissolves under the tongue. It really works great. Maybe you can ask your Dr. about it.
Take care,
