When doing radiation in 2009, which then carried into 2010, how did your insurace work?

Insurance
That is the way mine worked as well. As of 01/01/10 it was a whole new ballgame, with a new deductible and new co-insurance. I started radiation late November and finished January 15th 2010. The good thing of course is that we're finished, the bad is that it cost extra.0 -
That sounds right
Although my radiation didn't cross over the years, my chemo did. Generally, insurance coverage is based on the date the service is received. I haven't yet seen the bills for my radiation, but I'm guessing they'll bill each session individually (looking forward to going through all of those EOB's!!).
I was actually very happy that at least my cancer center bills everything through them, so I don't have to worry about getting bills from all sorts of different providers for labs, x-rays, etc. I just have to keep track of what the insurance company is paying the cancer center, and even that's a lot.0 -
Insurance
Janelle,
I was wondering the same thing, although all my "treatment" ended in 2009......but I have had check ups, blood work, gyn checkups, etc. so far in 2010....my insurance carried over....I don't even have to pay the deductable for 2010..very fortunate! This is because BC is considered, at least with my insurance and my particular policy an ongoing "disease.".....also it depends on what type of policy one has....there are many different options. I only have to pay my copay...again very fortuante! BC "ain't cheap!"
I wish you well.....0 -

I have BCBS and paid new deductible, co-insurance, and doc visits. It is probably depends on your plan policy. Ask your company benefit administrator to give you policy or call insurance with your specific question. In my plan every year I have to start over: deductible, co-insurance maximum, doc. copayment.
Wishing you the best,
