The Beast
The corroding beast inside me dwells
My flesh it does consume
It's constant whisper in my ear preaches doom and gloom
There seems to be no answers. No solutions to it all
Nothing but a miracle will stop the beasts dark call
Yet in the midst of darkness, my spirit still sees light
It cannot destroy my soul or take away my peace
For, despite the war that rages on, Gods wonders never cease.
I see the tender beauty in all things every day
Life is fleeting, and shorter still for some.
I may never see the road ahead or what is yet to come
Sometimes it's hard to see the path that leads the way
My body may be overcome but my spirit's here to stay.
I have no doubt about the fact that God is with me here.
But, still the beast dwells inside and whispers in my ear.

Wow, Eric. Just read this.
Wow, Eric. Just read this. It is great! Have you written more? If not you should. It does say it all. Glad to see you on the board. I may have missed some posts. I have been keeping busy and trying to keep my mind busy and not thinking about cancer so much. It really doesn't help much but at the end of the day I have got more things done. Good to hear from you. Best to you Paula -

powerful
Hi Eric,
Sorry I took so long to read this and comment. This is very powerful- thank you for sharing it with us. I really think this should be published somewhere! I'd maybe send it in to Cure magazine, Reader's Digest, something like that. Really!
Take care and yes, I believe God is in control in spite of "the beast" that is still within me. There is always purpose that can be taken out of all situations and conditions.
Keep on fighting and believing!
Lisa
