You Pay the Cost to Be the Boss
Hi Margaret
This sounds like a reasonable request to me. It's been 5 months, so it would be a good idea to get a "snapshot" of where you are at now.
Perhaps your onc has him penciled in for a 6-month scan - but if he does not bring it up in your consultation, you can absolutely ask him about it and/or request one...it's very logical to want to see what's going on now.
Blood work should be done as well. Not much to talk about if we don't have some bloodwork and a scan, is there?
Blowing away your "anxieties" and scattering them across the winds...
I do hope all is well and continues to be so - and I anxiously await myself to hear back on what you find out.
Good to see you!

I would have no problem asking...
I hope they do a CEA, and it's never wrong asking, "Hey, what about a CT to see what's on there?" Believe it not, they can't remember everything, and sometimes it just slips their minds. I asked my onc the other day what my platelet level would have to be to skip a dose of FOLFOX. He couldn't remember. He told me to ask my nurse. I have every confidence in him to know what's good for me, but sometimes, they just can't remember everything. They're human, too. )0 -

Thanks, Craig for the reply. It is always good to hear from you. He did have a scan done in December, forgot to mention it, so I still would like another one, we go on a cruise in May and I would just feel better knowing he is still NED. I do pray for you everynight and again thank you for the support.
A year ago today he was diagnosed and tonight we spent 3.5 hours in the ER because of an infection. always something! I told him, he keeps me hopping!!!
Again, thanks. Margaret0 -

Absolutely ask for the scan I'm surprised he didn't do a scan right after chemo.
Thank you for the reply, sorry I forgot to mention he did have a scan in December, but that was 4 mos. ago and I am a worrier. Again, thank you for the quick response. God Bless and take care. margaret0 -

My husband does have a great oncologist. He will spend about 1.5 hours with us on Tuesday and before that I am sure he will have his bloodwork. His onc. really spends a lot of time with all the patients. I just wanted to make sure that it would be a reasonable request for the scan. I think we all know it is the NURSES who know the patients, they spend more time with the patients. (bi-weekly) whereas the doc sees them maybe once a month. Take care and God Bless. margaret0 -

George had a CT scan when he completed his 6 months of the whole Folfox thing. Our onc tends not to overscan but does do them every 6 months. Some doc's do them every 3 months. Requesting a scan at this time for you seems very reasonable to me.
Have fun on the cruise.
