2bHealed question: modified citrus pectin
I ordered the modified citrus pectin to add to my juicing regiment and tried it last night for the first time. It was not pleasant. I have had all sorts of tough flavors in my juice (kale, broccoli rabe, cabbage) and can usually get it all down with no problems. I added a TB of pectin to my juice last night and almost threw up. It was so hard to get the juice down but did. So I remember you said that you used to (or still do) put pectin in your juice. Did you do anything to it to modify flavor?
Thanks!
Amy

Mine arrived and I put it in hot tea. YUCK....... SUPER YUCK I drank it but YUK.
I used 1 teaspoon as directed on the container. It tasted dirty. I couldn't even begin to taste my tea. I plan on taking it regardless, but shucks.0 -
Pectin Powder
Hi amy,
sorry it took me a couple days to reply to this....I wanted to find my receipts from the powder I ordered through my Naturopathic doctor. It was over 8 years ago, but I still have the receipts in my file. Unfortunately it's not listed by name on my list, but if you PM me, I can give you the number of my Naturopath in Minneapolis with whom I consulted.
I no longer use it, but if I felt I needed to I would in a skinny minute.
I don't remember it tasting bad in my juice at all but I was putting a lot of stuff in my juice cocktail back in those days:
flax seed (cancer fighter extraordinaire along with fiber and omega-3s)
protein powder (for tissue repair)
FiberSmart by ReNew Life (yum!)
Fractionated Pectin Powder
And to me it was like a dessert drink. So don't know what to tell you except that I cannot juice broccoli (ugh) and eat it steamed instead. Have you tried adding a tiny bit of ginger? It adds some sweet zing if you don't add too much. Are you adding an apple? That helps too.
Hope this helps.

PectaSol-C Modified Citrus Pectin
Hello,
I use the PectaSol brand of modified citrus pectin, upon recommendation by my integrative MD. It is my understanding that modified citrus pectin is not a defined term in the dietary supplement market, so all brands are not the same. Some are not the correct molecular weight range to be absorbed and effective, others contain large amounts of total breakdown product which is not effective, and others add additional ingredients to straight pectin which is is indigestible. The PectaSol brand is the one that has clinical research behind it. It's tastes is very neutral and is best taken in a half a cup of cool water. It goes into solution completely if I let it sit a few minutes before stirring to allow the fine particle to hydrate (if I stir too quickly it clumps), then I drink it in three or four gulps. It is also recommended to be taken on an empty stomach away from other medications and supplements. I feel it has helped me, I have been taking it for over a year now and things are now stable. I wish I would of found this site earlier.
Hope I helped a bit,

I just got my MCP in the other day and started taking it yesterday..... YUK is right Diane. I put it my juice and YUK... I could only drink 2 big gulps of it and threw the rest out. I am going to have to try to find something else to put it in to disguise it....maybe the apple as EM suggested. After that... I may try the PectaSol to see if its better because I want to take this for a while anyway. Thanks everybody!

Sorry I'm late
I don't remember it tasting bad either but it was over 5 years ago. I was also drinking a few other things that didn't taste great. I didn't care at the time, it was all so much better than chemo. I mixed it in with my essaic tea (both were to be taken on an empty stomach first and last thing in the day) and just stared out the window and chugged it straight down.
I only took it for about 3 months and don't really remember why since I did most of the rest of my regime over a year.

I read the tangerine peels have a lot of nutrients that attack cancer cells. I am going to trying juicing the peels.0
