BRAC NEGATIVE?

I'm confused. I read Sharon's post which said, "On top of finding out I was Brac negative (which I understand that my body has a less chance of fighting the cancer)." I was found to be BRAC negative and I thought that was a good thing? If anyone can explain this to me, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks, and luv, prayers and HUGS to all!

    BRCA gene mutation
People who have the BRCA 1 or 2 gene mutation (BRCA positive) respond more favorably to treatment. They have better outcomes overall.

    Did not know that!
    I just learned something!

My onc/gyn never told me that about Brac postive. Neither did the genetic counselor my sister and I went to. You would have thought someone would have shared that bit of "good" news.
