I need help.

I wish I could post to all sub-sections here. I am about to start my chemo and radiation. They tell me I will be totally dependant upon others to get me to and from treatment within a couple of weeks. I don't even want to believe that but...Anyway, I'm divorced, and have no-one close to take me anywhere, nor do I WANT to involve anyone else, but contingencies must be met, and so far I've found nary a soul who can quit working or their own family, or doesn't want as much as I make in the motion picture industry in NYC for providing transpo. Any suggestions? Paul

I would suggest that you reach out to some organizations in your area. The local American Cancer Society sometimes has ideas or even volunteers. Church groups can sometimes help. Also, check with your local hospital social worker and your oncology dr. If your dr. is telling you that you will need a driver, see if he has suggestions. Don't be afraid to ask friends or fellow workers for help. They may be able to work their schedules around picking you up and dropping you off. I live in a small community where people still help each other in need and many are retired. When my husband was ill, we had many volunteers. We didn't need a lot of help, but when I called on people I learned that they really did want to help. In fact some were a little mad that we hadn't called on them earlier. One friend in treatment had coworkers who set up a schedule so that no one person had to miss much work. I'm sorry you are having to deal with this along with you cancer treatment. Fay

I agree with grandmafay, contact the Churches in your area or the hospital you can’t be afraid to ask for help. We all need help at some point in our life.

Dear Paul welcome and the best of luck to you in this journey. Please do reach out to your local American Cancer Society. They very well may be able to provide transportation for you. As well as the local churches in your area. You will never know unless you ask. Keep us posted.

Maybe someone on this sight that lives in your area can assist you. I am in Ohio so that won't work. Check with you doctors they should be able to give you some information on who can help. Good Luck
