How do you know when you may deed dialation done to the esophagus? I am having some problem with getting caught sometimes.Unsure if it's me not chewing enough or if I'm truly having problems.

    Hi Mary,
    Yes I would say

    Hi Mary,
Yes I would say that a dialation would be a good idea. Ask you onc. what they think. A dialation will open it up, you can also get a stent in the esophagus. You will have a scope done first to see what the blockage is about, then go from there. Hope this helps!

    Dialation Will Help
    Mary,
My was esophagus removed in Sep 08, and I had the same problems you described. It took 4 dilation procedures to be able to swallow normally. I'm not an expert by any means, nor does it mean you will need 4 procedures. What I'm saying is if the first dilation does not do the trick, don't worry about it. I did worry, but I shouldn't have. The dilation procedure was very easy. -Ted
