Urgent Question Re: Stents

My mom is in the hospital again with complications from her first stent. They are thinking of doing a parallel tracheal-esophageal stent. However, this comes with some serious risks. Obviously the biggest is death from hemorrhage.

They are thinking of doing surgery as soon as tomorrow morning. Has anyone on here dealt with this issue? The information I have read about these stents is awful and would love some first-hand information if anyone has any.

Thanks so much,
Amy

    Thank you so much William.
Thank you so much William. As I looked through the older pages I realized this situation is not common. She did have her surgery this morning and she now has a stent in both her esophagus and her trachea. We are praying hard for no complications.

    Good luck with her recovery
Good luck with her recovery --- my dad had a stent which really helped him with his ability to eat solid food and he really had no complications (a sore throat for a few weeks). But I have seen others on this site speak about the stents falling into the stomach and other problems. Get as much info as you can from the docs.

    Best,

    Hi Amy,
    Glad to read that

    Hi Amy,
Glad to read that your mom did have the surgery and it was successful. My dad had a stent put in his esophagus in December, and it did him wonders. Hoping she will recover quickly.
