Giving you all an update-Sister's surgery
The pain in her back turned out to be blocked bile ducts. They put a stent in to drain her kidneys and she also had another stent for her liver. She has been in the hospital since Tuesday and recently had an inflammation of the pancreas, so she will be there for a few more days. It seems as if the surgery on 2/5 opened pandora's box. It has been one procedure after the next since then. She still has not been able to eat since she went into the hospital and she is painfully thin.
Fortunately, she has an amazing support system in her community that is giving her family and three small children lots of love and support. I know this is just a bump in the road and once she regains her strength, she will be back to fighting this beast. When she was in the hospital at USC, there were posters all over the place that read "Fight On". That is such a great motto.
I know some of you have PM'd me that they had experienced this same thing and are still around fighting! Thank you!
I check this board daily, and you all inspire me to continue to hope and never give up.

Oh Marie
It does seem like it is one thing after another since the attempted surgery on 2/5. I don't know what to tell you except hang in there and take it one day at a time for things to turn around. Hopefully she will be able to gain some strength so she can move on with this fight. Thinking of all of you daily. How are the kids? Take care - Tina and George0 -

Gosh, I'm glad to hear the doctors finally found what was causing all these problems and got her fixed up! Hopefully she'll be home and eating again soon.
A friend from church had pancreatitis several years ago and said it was very painful and caused eating concerns. Maybe this will quickly pass and Christina will be eating well and gaining back that lost weight very soon.
God Bless!

when I look back on my journey so far, it seems like the first 6-9 months were a blur of one complication, ER visit, procedure etc...I am finally stable with this disease. It will happen for your sister too. You siad it, a pandora's box was open. So she needs to put each "set back" in perspective, try and stay strong for each one, then be able to rejoice when strength and some stability returns.
Huugs to you and your family

2009 was hell for me, it was also one thing after another with me, I thought that was the year I was going to die. But I'm still here, and hopefully you're sister will have this last thing happen to her before she gets better as well. Knock on wood I been out of the hospital a few months, but don't give up hope, things do get better, and I wish your sister a healthy recovery. She will be in my prayers.
Hugsss!

I hear you and really feel for you. I pray for you everyday. 2009 was hell for me, too. I did nearly die more times than I like to tell. I also wasn't sure I'd make it out alive! Here we are, friend. 2010 must be our year of blessings. I hear they're going around Ohio..hahaha

You know you're in my prayers. I'm so sorry that things have been so incredibly rough (and scary!). You are an amazing sister, you know. Lurk as much as you can. We understand when you don't have time to post. That doesn't stop the prayers, good thoughts and swing chickens!
