    I am really sorry to hear about your experience with SNL.  I thought that it was vey painful also, but I think that there are two different types of injections mentioned here.  I had the radioactive isotope injected in a Nuclear Medicine facility.  My BS did not allow any type of pain medication because she said that it would interfere with the uptake of the isotope, so no lidocane mixed with my shot, or topical cream.  I did take a Xanex, before the procedure, and that was a good thing, it got me in the chair to get it done!  The way that I try to look at these procedures that are really unpleasant is each one takes me one step closer to a normal life again.  The good news is, hopefully you will never have to repeat that procedure!
