Southern weather
is crazy this year! We are supposed to get snow mix tomorrow. I think I live just a couple hours west of you. I noticed Saturday that I have a few Daffodils blooming and was thinking that they usually bloom in January here. It's been a cold, cold winter.

Way crazy
A low has formed from the monsoon trough right over the centre of Australia. If it had formed over sea it would have been a cyclone. As it is some of our inland areas have received their highest rainfall in a hundred years most geting two to three years worth of rain in 24hrs. Needless to say there are a lot of people evacuated and isolated. Where I live on the sunshine coast we have had ten inches of rain in the last 24hrs and a new low has formed just off the coast so we gan expect gales and another six inches tonight. The younger folk cannot believe it but us oldies consider it a good old fashioned wet season. Cheers Ron.0 -
Yikes! That's a LOT of rain
Yikes! That's a LOT of rain in 2 hours! We had a storm like that this past fall and had 11 deaths, including 3 toddlers.
Pat, I live in Villa Rica, Ga. which is 35 miles (and 200 years) west of Atlanta. I'm 24 miles to the Alabama line. I-20 runs behind the back of my subdivision, yet we have only a Walmart, a couple of grocery stores, loads of bait shops and pawn shops plus churches galore.0 -
call me crazy
but I like the mixed weather of winter. I have lived in places where the weather was always the same - southern California - blah, but nice. Zion Illinois - cold, but, okay only cold. New Hampshire again cold, but okay, cold. Iceland, windy (surprised I did not say cold?). Central Jersey - mixed. Some days it is just raw cold and you wish for a little warmth, then is snows and looks so beautiful you forget you wanted warm, then it melts and your body thaws and you feel wonderful and then it starts all over again. I would trade Jersey for someplace else in a minute, but a mixed weather winter is a blessing I would not want to trade for anything. It is still March, I say let old man winter keep it coming for a bit. Spring will get its chance.0 -

Diane, I live just south of Birmingham in a little melting pot called Homewood.Moved here in the late 70's because the school system was so good. Our youngest is a senior in college and we are still here....too lazy to move
So glad you have a Walmart.....whatever would we do without Wally's World?
The slush is falling here now so Y'all should be getting it very soon. Not sticking at all.

"Everbody talks about the weather but no one does anything about it>" or something to that effect.....He also said we had the best congress money could buy but he was certainly wrong on that.....0 -

About 2" so far but couldn't keep me home!
We got about 2 inches of snow before noon, but I made it to O'Charley's for lunch with my gal pals from my church and some from my Bible Study. We had 7 today and boy did we have fun. We laughed and cut up for almost 2 hours.
It seems to be stopping AND it's going to be mid 60°'s by Saturday.0 -
How's that global warming going?
It's snowed 3 times this winter in Atlanta. I lived here over 20yrs., as far as frequency that's a record for me. I'm sure it's due to all the hunidity we've been getting. It rained more this last summer & fall than it has in a long while too. Now we're in what I call the 30 degree swing stage and I hate it. 35 degrees at night and 65 degrees in the day, it's crazy!

I know what you mean DJ. Nick (15) is going to his Sunday School teacher's hunting cabin for Friday and Saturday. We're having to pack for 25° nights and 65° days plus extra clothes for paintball!
I'm so happy we're going to be hitting mid 60°'s for at least the next 10 days. We have plans to climb Stone Mountain with a 7 year old grandson. :-)0
