Oh Margo I am so sorry to hear this I have had to deal with this a few time in my lymphedema arm. I am surprised they do not have you hooked up to an interveinious antibiotic. My prayers are with you as well as my deepest concern and well wishes. Please let us know how you are doing.

Oh Margo! I'm so sorry you're faced with this now. Everything has been sailing along so nicely for you. I'll say a prayer that this gets cleared up for you quickly and that you recover with little to no down time!
Hugs, Mar
Cellulitis is a diffuse inflammation[1] of connective tissue with severe inflammation of dermal and subcutaneous layers of the skin. Cellulitis can be caused by normal skin flora or by exogenous bacteria, and often occurs where the skin has previously been broken: cracks in the skin, cuts, blisters, burns, insect bites, surgical wounds, or sites of intravenous catheter insertion. Skin on the face or lower legs is most commonly affected by this infection, though cellulitis can occur on any part of the body. The mainstay of therapy remains treatment with appropriate antibiotics.
Erysipelas is the term used for a more superficial infection of the dermis and upper subcutaneous layer that presents clinically with a well defined edge. Erysipelas and cellulitis often coexist, so it is often difficult to make a distinction between the two.
Cellulitis is unrelated (except etymologically) to cellulite, a cosmetic condition featuring dimpling of the skin.0 -

Oh Margo, Ouch! I hope you get some relief soon! Drive carefully today, I'm in CT and it's snowing now and should turn to a messy mix before it's done.

Oh Margo I developed
Oh Margo I developed cellulitis after my 2nd surgery in August 2009, which was the removal of the rest of the lymph nodes. You know you can become quite ill with this, but it will get better. They treated me with oral antibiotics. I took them for several months, actually just got off them in the past few weeks. sometimes I think it would have been much easier to get the IV. Please let us know what the doc says today. I'm praying for you.0 -

I'm so sorry you have to go through that! I just found out what this was also. My husband was in the ER a few weeks ago with a severely swollen throat and was also diagnosed with Cellulitis. They pumped him up with heavy-duty antibiotics and a steroid. It did clear up pretty fast. Prayers are headed your way for a speedy recovery.

Positive Thoughts and Prayers
Margo, I hope you got the intravenous antibiotic this afternoon, or that you are getting some antibiotic that is helping right away without the horrid headaches and nausea. You have our prayers and positive thoughts directed your and Jake's way always.
Sometimes it seems as if it's just one thing after another, but hang in there. You are a strong woman and will ride this out as you have so much worse.
Keep us updated, my friend.0 -
