gained weight finally!!!!
I am still so sad over the bad news about Al because he got his surgery just before I got mine and I was hoping all would go well for him and Kath and then Weezies husband has gone on as so many of our friends here have, that like Lori says in her post you feel guilty when it is going okay for you. I have had my ups and downs and finally got the j tube situation cleared up, just hope that my next chemo does not do another number and cause more trouble. But my onc dr was so happy as were Ron and myself, I went from 119 lbs the last visit to 123 lbs and at home my fav scale says I weigh 125!!! I can eat but not as much as I want but still have the tube feedings at night and will keep that up for awhile even though sometimes I want to remove it myself even. I am glad that my onc decided on clean up and he told me yesterday that for the patients that can tolerate it, he is happy with the results he has seen and does not want to pass up this chance to try to give me the best chance possible. There are no guarantees about whether I will stay clear but I am so glad that I am being given the chance to survive, it is in God's hands as it is. The dr told me that this is the strongest he has seen me be since the surgery and even the rib pains have quieted down. Hoping for more good news from the others fighting this terrible disease, prayers for all.

Donna---great news for you! My dad is doing well too, but not gaining weight consistently yet---up a few ponds and then down--but feeling good... Glad to know you are doing well!

Congratulations Donna! It is great news when you want and need to gain weight, and you do! Slow as she goes, like my dad always quotes. Best of luck to you. Nice to see Kim respond too, glad that her dad is doing well. Prayers to all.

Tina and Kim,
thanks for your replies and encouragement. I am still going up and down so happy about the weight gain then got on the scale this am and back down 2 lbs but I ate a big breakfast and I wont give up the tube feedings. Tina slow as she goes is an apt quote for anyone recovering from surgery, like the one step at a time. I have kept pretty calm during all this cancer turmoil since I found out in July and I told my dr it is all the prayers and support and also just listening to all who told me just take the next step. thanks again and Kim so glad for your Dad.

But you will have ups and downs on the weight. Layne does. But he holds his own--the xeloda gives him the runs, so it takes a toll on how much actually stays in his system--after chemo he'll go right back up--but he still fights for every pound so it will be easier when he is done.
Remember those high calorie foods you can just add in between, and enjoy being able to say "YES" to those things!
You are such a light girl. I love your posts.

Hi Betty,
Thanks for the compliments and your posts. This board means so much to me and everyone and their families fighting EC. We hear so much sadness and see so much bravery from our friends here who are going thru many more trials than people like me, but we have this board to sound our fears and say what is on our minds, good and bad and that is a precious gift. Ron saw me come out and cry today because of Al and he knows how all of us were praying for a better outcome but we know we all can be there as someone said pretty quick. Thanks for reminding me about the high calorie foods Betty!!! I am eating more than a half cup at my meals and even some chips and Cheetos, Kath told me Al liked them too. It is good to know everyone goes up and down with the weight. My chemo first constipates and then the runs, so that does a number on my weight too. Take care and glad Layne is doing okay!!
