Hello,
My name is Gabrielle. I am 19 and my boyfriend is 20. He has melanoma. He has had a few removals but his grandma paid for everything. We are starting to look for information and i can't find the start point! Does anyone know a good health insurance company that will take someone with a pre-exisisting condition?

PreExisting Conditions and Insurance
Hi Gabrielle!
I hope that your boyfriend is doing better and that you have found some answers since Feb.
Just in case, I'll give you a few tips.
First, because your friend is under 26 and the new Healthcare Bill has passed, he should look into getting on his parents medical insurance asap, if they are already covered.
If this is not an option, depending on the state that you live in, he may qualify for the State High Risk Pool to get some medical coverage. Copy the link below and check if your state has one of these programs.

If you do not see your state, then contact your individual state's insurance commission to find out which commercial medical insurance provider will sell legitimate 'guaranteed issue' insurance to those with pre-existing conditions. A word of warning though, the rates are 3 to 7 times the regular coverage rates and the pre-existing condition is usually not covered the first year.
Beware of scam medical insurance companies that sell bill reduction policies instead of actual insurance! The Better Business Bureau and your state's insurance commission can help you determine if a company is fraudulent.
I hope your young man gets better and has success finding the help that he needs.
You are an angel for standing with him!0
