CEA
George gets his CEA level along with a bunch of special blood work done once a month. In addition, he gets blood work every week before chemo. This is ordered by his oncologist and not his family doctor. When Georges does go to his internist he also orders blood work. Never thought about it but George probably gets overlapping blood work from the 2 different doctors. I would not worry. Tina0 -

I was also Stage III and my CEA is every four months right now. A CBC is pretty much a given during any blood tests. I worked in a lab for years and seldom took blood that didn't include a vial for a CBC. Since hubby is on coumadin, a CBC would show anemia in case hubby were bleeding internally.0 -

Thank you so much for taking the time to reply. His doctor's office just called and told me his coumading level is coming up, but didn't have any other results for me. They did say they would call me when they get them. Thank you again and God Bless. Margaret0 -

Thank you for your reply. He goes for a port flush next week, maybe they will do a CEA blood draw. It would make me feel better. We don't see his onc till April and to me that is an eternity. He keeps asking why does he still have to take so much coumadin and I keep telling him because his blood is as thick as his head. he just laughs. I keep telling him that is my job through everything he has experienced this year is to make and keep him laughing. Thank you and God bless. Hope you are doing well. Margaret0
