infection

I got a call from radiologist moments ago saying they thought they saw possible infection on ct of liver. Has anyone been told this? What does it mean and how dob they treat?

    I have been in and out of the hospital for that problem
    I had my resection in sept and since then the doctors haven't been able to figure out what's going on with my liver. I had a ct scan and they found fluid so they did a needle biopsy. With further testing they found the fluid not growing any bacteria so have concluded that the fluid build up is just there to "replace" the missing piece of liver until it regenerates itself. This fluid build up is very painful by the way. The liver hurts and it shots intense pain up to the shoulder and you are unable to take deep breaths. The doctors have told me since the fluid is questionable on a ct scan as long as I have no fever with the pain all I can do is take pain medication. If it turn into an infection they said I would know becuase you will be extremely sick and it is treated with heavy antibiotic ( I think cipro is one of them ) hope this helps but my advise is to make sure it is an infection rather that fluid and dead cells like I have. Don't worry either it will eventually be ok :)

    I am familiar with abscesses and infection
    Besides almost directly killing me multiple times, the surgery delayed post surgical chemo 6 months which of course allowed my single resected liver tumor to multiply into dozens of satellite tumors. A tiny abscess can invade your entire body in less than 12 hours. If you only have a tiny one, they may just put you on antibiotics and let your body absorb it. I had dozens of surgeries install drains. Some of which I kept for months. My case was as severe as it gets without dying, many cases aren't as bad. If you start feeling even remotely bad go to the emergency room. If you experience a little bit of nausea or dizziness, go. By the time you get to the hospital you could be in septic shock.
