Kid's sightings
Its been 8 weeks since hubby passed. My 3 year old has been saying strannge things like I talked to dad last night and he told me he misses me and a couple of times she has seen him around the house. She knows he is gone and I do understand that to her gone might seem a temporary thing. Yesterday my nine year old came up to me because she was worried that every time we passed a particular corner near our house she saw her dad there and as she put it..."i could not see past him or through him. It was like he still had a body". I told her it could be that dad is telling her he is ok or it could be a sign of how much she is missing him, either option being ok. It did however get me curious about how others who have lost partners, who have little kids, would deal with something like this.

Talking to Grandpa
Our 7 year old granddaughter told us she was talking to grandpa but couldn't give him a hug. Who knows if they are really seeing them or thinking they see them because they want to believe that they do. Do spirits visit us after death? I think they do. What form they take may change with the people. Fay0 -
Not a kid but...
If your child feels like she has seen her dad she may very well have. I know it is strange to believe but I have lived it. My daughter is now 32 but when she was about 5 her favorite uncle was murdered by his soon to be ex-wife; when I got the call the morning after the killing I went to tell her and she told me first about her visit and talk with uncle mike - blew my mind! Fast forward to about 7 years ago and we were at my ex-inlaws 50th reunion (Mike's parents) and my daughter's son was outside. He wandered down the cemetary and my daughter could see him from a distance and he was just talking away (babbling probably because he was about 18mo old). My daughter went to get him and came back to the reception hall white as a sheet; asked her what was wrong and she said her son had been at Uncle Mike's grave - she didn't even know where it was located in the cemetary! If you read, get the Woman's World magazine and there are articles about signs and the like. In my own case, I lost my husband June 30, 2008 and at first when I would have my meltdown moments I could walk into our den and smell his pipe as if he had just left the room. Mind you there is no tobacco in my house and I don't think my dogs smoke :-) Even after all this time, I still feel his presence especially when I am down. Your daughter is having a special time for her. Encourage her to talk about it and maybe keep a memory book for her as she gets older to remember the experiences. I'm not into the hocus pocus stuff but I really want to believe our loved ones are out there looking out for us. Check out the magazine and you'll read some truly interesting stories that have happened to others. Paula0 -

Thank you so
Dear Paula,
Thank you so much for your post. I am so looking forward to seeing or hearing my dad. He recently passed away, 3/9/10. I do believe that I will. I love your idea of writing these experiences down in a journal. That will be great to look back at in the future. My condolences to you on your loss of your husband, but continue to enjoy the smell of his pipe! My dad was a pipe smoker too!

hearing them
i believe that children can see and hear the loved ones that have pasted i do not believe it is any power that we don't all have i just think as we get older we lose it or hide because it is fround unpon. when my aunt past she came to me and told me not to live my life the way she had. she said good-bye and left. when i told my mother that this had happened she yelled at me because she thought i was being cure she had just gotten word of my aunts death to breast cancer. i have never had another expierence like that or if i had i would not talk about it. i was about seven or eight.0 -
I've had a several
I've had a several experiences like that. Before my mom passed I saw her sister (she had passed about 10 years before my mom got sick). She was waiting for my mom. I also saw my cousin, really saw him, the night he passed away, after he passed. He was really excited any trying to speak with his brother, not me, about how happy he was now and what a wonderful place he was in. I've felt my mom's presence around me several times since she's passed, it's always very comforting. I would love to SEE mom but I haven't yet. Just lots and lots of dreams about her. The relatives that I've seen always look young and beautiful and sometimes wear clothes that I've never seen them wear. My aunt was dressed like a hippy or like Peggy Lipton from the mod squad (!!??). I am not joking. She NEVER wore anything like that that I ever saw. I know it sounds crazy. Maybe it is. But those have been my experiences. They are always very comforting tho. Surprising but comforting.0 -

Samething with my son
My son told us the same thing about my dad and grandfather...both had passed before he was born. He would tell us sometimes "I talked to Paw last night and he said.....". One morning he told me that an old man in a uniform was in his room and shook his head yes and left. A few years later, about a year ago, I was going thru some old pictures (which had been in the attic since he was 6 months)and had one 8x10 of my grandfather in his WW2 Marine Dress uniform and my 7 yr old said "I know him"....When I asked how, he told that he use to come to see him sometimes and just stand there shaking his head.
I believe in ghosts and honestly believe that our loved ones watch over us for a time after they pass and help us thru the transition. I think my dad and grandfather were there to be with and comfort him and guide him (or give him pointers on how to drive his old man crazy).0 -

When my mom passed away, my granddaughter was about 3 years old. My sisters and I along with my daughter and granddaughter were in my mom's mobile home and were in Mom's bedroom. My granddaughter was standing on her bed looking out the window overlooking a river. My granddaughter said "There is G-G (great grandma) right over there waving at me." We all looked out the window and there was no one there, but my granddaughter was still saying she saw G-G. I'm not sure I believe in ghosts but do think maybe those who have passed on can come back to check on us.0 -
my son and his grandfather
My father passed away when my son was two years old. We are a very close family.
One day a few weeks later, my older children were at school, I was in the kitchen and my son was in an adjacent room playing with his blocks on the floor. Jamie was talking in an animated way but what got my attention was a burst of laughter. I went to the door of the room and asked him what was so funny.
Jamie pointed to an area on the floor near where he was seated with the blocks. He grinned from ear to ear and said, "Grand-daddy!" and resumed playing and talking.
I knew, without a doubt, my father had come to play with his grandson.0 -

About two weeks before she passed from bc, my mom told me that my father had visited her in the ICU in the middle of the night--they had a long conversation. He had beeen gone about ten years by then. It gave my sister and I the chills. When Mom told us that she had seen him, her cancer was still undiagnosed; they thought she had something else entirely. We had no idea that she only had about two weeks to live.0 -
Lots of Experiences
After my husband died, I felt his presence - but I was not sure if it was my brain playing tricks on me or if it was him.
My husband hated fern plants with a passion - he thought they were very messy and while he was not a neat-nick - he did not like those ferns.
So - one day I said to the air (thinking he was there) that if he was present - to do something really funny. He was a very funny man.
That night - when I got home from work the fern plants, in my home, were all turned upside down on the floor. Can they move objects? You bet they can. I think there is a power out there that we don't have a clue about. We did as kids but we were trained out of it.
But it can move mountains - if we believe.0 -
im hearing similar things
It has been 3 mos since my husband passed from lung cancer. My youngest son who is 10 and I were coming home from basketball practice which hubbie use to coach. He was talking about him and then tells me that he is at school everyday in his truck waiting for him. My husband did pick him up everyday. I didnt quite understand but after a little probing he was clear anc absolutely certain that he sees my husband sitting in his truck everyday at school waiting for him. It seems this is the only time he sees him. I am not quite sure what to make of this all so I spoke to our psychologist about it. My son has partial epilepsy which effects the right side of his brain..he began having seizures after my husband died even thou he hadnt had any in a very long time...im not sure if he is havng seizures or if it is real or if my son is having some sort of break down. My husband was his everything. Hopefully, after he meets with the psychologist I will know more. Not sure how to feel about it or what to think.0 -
It might have happened
Hi,
My hubby passed away last March. My 6 year old grandson has told me quite a few times that he's seen Papa. He asked if I ever have, but I haven't. He went into the bedroom where Tom had been sleeping and tapped on the dresser, and I said "cayden, what are you doing?" . He said "I'm trying to see if Papas ghost is here"> So you never know about kids, but I really wish I would have some visions like that. We would have been married 48 years on Feb. 8th so I'm really lost without him. Kids think different than we do, so maybe she has seen her dad.
Take care! "Carole"0 -

Hi all
Its now almost 13 months since hubbby passed. The couple of weeks before the first anniversary of his death strange things started happening around the house and I started to feel a presence in the car when I drove to the station in the morning.
Every night it would sound as if someone was switching off lights around the house as in you would hear light switches going click and I started waking up in the middle of the night with the feeling that someone was in my bedroom.
I dont really know what happens after we die but I do know that he is watching over us, maybe even sharing our space. I was a little worried we were keeping him here because of our grief but I think he is here because of our girls.
Sometimes its painful to feel him so close and yet not be able to see him.0 -

Hello onlyhuman
Thanks for your recent update. My dad will be gone a year in March. I have still not felt, or seen his presence, but I am hopeful that I will. Mom has had some experiences at their home though. She does not believe like I do though. She woke from a nap one day, sitting in dad's recliner, looked over at the propane heater and swore she saw him standing there in his robe getting warm. He used to do this a lot.
Another thing that has happened is the small tv in the bedroom just comes on some mornings. She says oh it is set on an alarm or something. I say, how can you not believe that dad's presence is here? As for me, I will continue to believe and wait for him to come visit me. Thanks again! May peace continue to be with you.

Unbearable - Of all the posts I've read today, I wanted to know what happened with your son meeting with the psychologist. I have a medical background and I'm fascinated with how the brain perceives the world. I also empathize with concerns for your son - ours is now a healthy 28 yo. My heart goes out to you and your family as the grieving takes so long . . and takes so many forms. I hope the meeting with the psychologist gives you some peace of mind.0
