Need Your Advice

Hello Everyone, I am new to the network. Have been following your supportive stories for a while and decided to join. Need your advice. Diagnosed with colon cancer in Feb 09, softball sized tumor and 20 lymph nodes (all removed), discovered small liver mets, did Folfox, liver mets died, discovered small lung mets, did Fulfiri, lung spots didn't die. Latest scan shows enlarged lymph nodes between lungs and one in abdomen. I know it sounds terrible, but I am trying not to panic. Has anyone had success with clinical trials? If so, which drugs? Hi, Steve,
I'm afraid I can't answer any of your questions but just wanted to welcome you to the board - these people are amazingly supportive - you're among people who really understand what you're going through. I'm sure someone else will have some more practical info to share, but just wanted to say I'm glad you found us.

You can read about my story under my profile. My sister had similar issues, she had two lymph nodes after 5 months of chemo that became cancerous. Now, those lymph nodes are dead (or so the PET appears) and she is back on for liver surgery. She has been on chemo since April of 09. I think you cannot give up hope. It sounds like you have not exhausted your chemo and there are treatments for liver and lung mets. Have you sought second, third and fourth opinions?0 -

Steve,
Don't panic. Right now, take a deep breathe. You are ok. I had liver mets that were not resectable. I found my rad onc and he did radiation. (I didn't qualify for any of the standard procedures or any of the new ones) Celiac lymph node involvment (between the liver and the lungs) We radiated them. No one else in the country would touch me. My rad onc is the only one that does this procedure. Now I have 2 spots to the lungs and I start radiation in 2 weeks.
Chemo didn't work for me. Most people are so successful with it but I needed a chemo that isn't approved for colon cancer. More drugs are on there way and I see the most of them have been used for other forms of cancer for quite some time.
Hold on. Don't panic now.
Out wit, outplay, outlast.
