Glad to have your help
I have finally been able to log on which took me 3 weeks so I used a different E-Mail acct. First of all I want to say how helpful your posts have been in helping me with preparing me for this journey. I’ll tell you about my medical Hx. I had blood in my stool for approx. 3 months. I finally got a reference to have a Colonoscopy 11/23/09 and DX. Stage II a week later. They found a 2-3cm mass 3 cm from my anus. Boy was I scared but needed to be strong for my parents due to their age and mental health. Had other test and they found it to be a T2 growth. I was set up with a onc. Doc and treatment started 1-19-10. My Chemo is oral 3000mg Xeloda a day for 5 weeks along with 5 weeks of radiation. I’m into a 1 ½ weeks and have had no issues. I almost feel bad that I feel well but I figure that my side effects will come. I am ready for a lot of the issues thanks to your posts. I think maybe my age being 52 with no other medical HX. And my faith in God and my medical team. I’ll keep you posted Good or Bad on how things go and will try to be involved with Ya’ll. Take Care…

Hello Payson
Just wanted to jump in and say welcome to the board. Our story with colon cancer is different than yours for George is Stage IV. Keep up the treatments and ask about anything that concerns you. Many on here have rectal cancer and can answer your questions. Again, welcome to the family, the board is a great source of information although I wish you did not have to be here. Tina0 -

Hi Payson. I am a 54 year old female from South Carolina. I finished my Xeloda on December 25, 2009. I would like to recommend to you to use the Udderly Smooth cream on your hands and feet every morning and evening. The hand-foot syndrome is a side effect of the Xeloda. My feet and hands peeled and were a problem for me. Everyone is different but being proactive might save you some grief. I also used a variety of creams (Eucrin, Udder Cream, etc.) Welcome to our CSN family.0 -

Thank You everyone for your warm greetings. I did recieve a tube of uttercream with my Rx. I use alot of Gold Balm hand sanatizer due to my work and regular sanitizer drys my hands out. I will start treating my feet better because I stand all day and I can't afford to have foot issues. Thank You everyone. Till next time..0 -
Welcome
Welcome you will find alot of information here so just ask if you have any questions.I did the xeloda and radiation at the same time, and didn't start getting stomach cramps, and feeling sick untill about the last two weeks.I didn't have any issues with my feet, but my hands went numb in the fingers. But returned to normal after treatment stopped. Both the chemo and radiation shrank the tumor alot, but I still ended up with a permanant colostomy,I hope you are luckier.Good luck.0 -

Thanks karguy for the "heads up", I'm aware that I will probably have a colostomy after surgery and might be with me permanantly. I'll not worry until things happen.0 -
hello
hello, Payson. (I should be IN BED -- it's 1:30)
but anyway, welcome. I've been treated for rectal cancer also, T2. My surgeon did a transanal excision, followed by Xeloda/radiation. (team wasn't sure if it was T1 or T2 and thought I may be a good candidate for transanal excision) I'm now going for followups. Good luck, have faith, and I'll hold you in the Light.
