Tomorrow is a big day. Mom meets with the surgeon, and oncologist to see what progress has been made over the past 8 months of chemo, surgery, and chemo...respectively. She is terrified. I have no idea what to expect...I stayed in MN and will be on conference call, My sister will be with her...I feel a little guilty for not flying out, but....semester just started and frankly just didn't want to or have energy....Don't feel like such a good daughter....Will keep you all posted. Her appointment is at 9:30 am and then noon EST. Please say prayers. I believe in that....Although doctor told me in December, she wouldn't be dancing with NED, she hadn't had a CT scan. Her CT scan was last week, and I keep thinking (as Bonnie always says) this could be the one...

I will say a prayer for your mom
I too believe in the power of prayer.
Definitely let us know what the doctor says. I have a lunch date (with one of my nurses from my initial hospital stay) but I will check the board for your post.
I am almost at the same point......one more session of chemo, then the CT scan, then "the talk" with the GYN/Oncologist. He did give me a little preview last week. He offered me Taxol only as a kind of "maintenance" therapy. It will not prolong my life, but he said it might push back a recurrence.

You ARE a Good Daughter!
Lisa,
First of all, I will definitely have prayers in my heart all day for your mom and for you! I believe firmly in the power of positive thinking, prayer and hope!
I also want to address your statement that you weren't feeling like a good daughter. I've been very recently diagnosed and my daughter is 20 years old. My surgery will occur at the beginning of her spring semester. She wanted to withdraw from school to help out and I refused to allow her to do that I want Aly to live her life as normally as possible. You are being a good daughter by doing that and making your mom proud. She knows you love her!
And finally, to quote my husband (pardon the language): "There's lots of room in your dance card for NED and, the last time I checked, there was no expiration date tattooed on your a**!"
God bless you honey, my thoughts and prayers are with you!0 -
Prayers N Hugs
Dear Lisa, How awesome you can be there via conference ~ and don't even go to the "don't feel like a good daughter" place please. You are an awesome daughter and have been such a wonderful supportor and information seeker for your mom. I well be at the Dr's office today myself, but well send up popcorns you, your mom and all those taking care of her. Hugs ♥ Prayers Bonnie0 -
same orbit
Hi Lisa,
I don't think anything is worse than waiting! We're in a similar orbit. I travel down to Mom's today, and last night on the phone she said "I really need you" three times. Very unusual and scary. Over the past year she's often said she didn't want me to spend too much time looking after her (I'm the only daughter), because then I might not be there when she really needed me.
I guess by the end of the day, both of us will be wiping our rose-colored glasses trying to see the new scene clearly. All along, I've told Mom that outcomes don't matter and that I'll be there for her no matter what. But I don't think I'm gonna like the next chapter in the story.0
