Hi Mike
Thanks for checking in on me. I am doing well this is my 19th day past my last 35th and last Rad. Rough there for a few days Sore go pretty sore. I lucked out...or as i now believe was helped by my friends how have pretty good connections with powerful people. My neck never go more than a little red on my ear to ear. Not one blister. very few sores in my mouth little nauses during a coulp of the days and of course tiredness. A week ago I got back drinking my protien shakes. One a day for 2 days and I have done a shake twice a day 5 out of the last six day and 4 glucerna's in my peg tube a day. suppose to help my diabiates but I still have to grid up a pill in the morning and evening to control my blood sugar. The bed bugging has come to an end. last week I waddled in the sheets for a few day, but have gotten up earlier and taken the dogs and boys for a walk. Or take the boys to the park. Trying to get out each day and do something. Has scrambled egg Friday with cheese. Sat did pancake with LOTS of syrup. Has a few big did pretty well. Went down better than expected but the taste was not there. Not horrible but not what you exprect. Put some turkey sausage in my mouth. tasted not bad....now way was I going to swallow it. Ripped my throat to shreds. Catch and release LOL. Dr's all say I look better than than anyone they have seen at this stage I have lost 20 pds. skin looks good. And all of you here are responsible. With you helping tips. Your shared experiences and your prayers is why I was able travel this journey as well I have. I don't think my feet have hit the ground. Carried through this all. Well I will never ever forget the Queen My wife Erin took all this great ideas and prayers and made a plan. I have other names for it but Plan will work best. It was full of love prayer consistency and fear. No NO I mean dedication
and sweetness. No matter what names are give to this journey, the journeys heart and soul was my amazing wife Erin. I will spend the rest of my life trying to live up to the standard she has set for committment to a love on. Not a day goes by when I don't find myself wiping a tear from my eye watching here do something for me or the boys or work with
not even giving a thought to what she needs done for her. I could go on but this would get to long. I love her and will spend a life time devoting myself to her. So 5 weeks from now I will have my pet scan on my neck and throat. The throat looks good. neck still someting there. No biggie. I knew there was a good change they would go in an clean out the neck. So I can no sit and wait for 5 weeks. Got to have goals. Want to eat a burger in 2 weeks. Work on my strenght because have tickets with brother in law and nephew for Daytona 500. I WILL BE THERE. So that is where I am at. Dry mouth not real bad except during naps. I hate naps. I wake up burning up and severe dry mouth and got to pee. remember how a good sunday afternoon nap was great. LOL still accepting hints tips and prayers so if you got any up your sleeves feel free to drop them on me. LOL To the new memebers on here I am planning on saying hello and offering what I can. for now...listen to the people and you are already heading down the right path and they will keep you heading straight.
Mike thanks for slapping me on the head and getting me back here talking. Very theraputic.
Thank you and many others from here once again for the place I am in right now. I am so lucky and blessed. Going to my first group meeting tomorrow night at the Emory Winthrop Cancer center. Every Monday at the end of each month, the head and neck survivor's and partients meet. I look forward to it. Hear come's monday every one so let the week begin and bring what ever it wants at us because we can take anything now.
God Bless all

Glad to help you get back here and happy you are getting out with the boys. Sounds like you are doing well and trying to get back into some real food. Understand the sausage thing. Some foods sound so good and seem like a good idea but then when you try there's just no way. Keep trying though! That burger is just a few weeks away. I'm so glad you are doing well and I know you'll keep it up. You have made it through the worst and now can concentrate on getting your life and your family back on track. Keep working on getting yourself healthy. Have fun at Daytona! Keep it up with the boys. (and hound) It will make you feel better both physically and emotionally. Been trying to do as much as I can with my daughter and sure has helped. She got her first shutout of the season yesterday morning! (girl goalie on a boys hockey team) Dad was beaming. (6-0) Then went later in the day to a goalie clinic out of town with the pro who was the goalie coach for the Toronto Maple Leafs for years. We had a great day to say the least. Anyways, keep it up and keep posting.

It is a wonder sometimes that it takes getting sick for us guys to realize just how much our wife’s really mean to us in what they do. In all my treatments and through it all she was the only one who was there for me all the time, even when I was not the best of persons to be around she never let go. We have been married for 35 years, now I know why God lead her into my life.
Glad to see you back, take care and God be with you.0 -

Thanks Mike and Hondo. You are right about that Hondo. The woman are amazing and we are idiots for not realizing how much better than us they are. Mike congradulations to your daughter. I can only image how proud you must be. I feel like I am doing this every time I put a message on here but just always feel I must. Thank you to you both for thoughts, concerns and prayers. They are working. Last two nights have been the best I have had in fact last night slept 6 hrs straight. A record. I also am waking up with my throat feeling better. I know there are not so good days ahead,(time to time) but I am glad to see a some improvement. Still tired but trying to get out and do more. My brother in law and nephew want to take me to the Daytona 500 Feb. 14th so I have motivation to get my strength back. Makes it easier waiting the 5 weeks for the pet scan. I truly hope both of you are doing well and you are in my prayers.

Kurt have you tried any mouth sprays yet, you might not be far enough out of treatment for them to work but it is worth a try. I spray my mouth at bed time and can get 7 to 8 hour of sleep if the heater is not on. Sometimes I do wake up one spray for a booster and back to sleep. I use two types one is Biotene I get from Walgreens and the other is Stoppers4 I get from www.drugstore.com I prefer the Stoppers4 but they both work just as well.
Take care and God be with you.0
