No chemo next week

I saw my oncologist and he agreed that we should postpone the scheduled chemo next week. He now thinks that I should not have had the treatment earlier this month. He said "go on the cruise, as scheduled and have a good time". My CA125 stayed at 158 as it was in Dec. and we both suspect that it is the bowel diverticulitis that is the problem because the tumor still can not be felt as it could before the four doses of carbo. My blood counts have recovered to the normal range so my "feel bad" is probably the bowel infection aftereffects rather than the results of chemo. When I return we will do a CT scan, see the specialists from Dallas, even if I have to go there and decide what the next proceedure will be. Possible removal of this misshaped sigmoid colon that is causing all the trouble.

So we are off to cruise the Panama Canal for the greater part of February. I'm taking the antibiotics along with me just in case. Otherwise with my bed along with me, I can go and rest to my body's needs and maybe even gain the 4 lbs that I have lost in the last month. LOL

I'll be thinking of you and checking the internet from ship as I can find the time. Mainly, we are going to enjoy the celebration of 50 years together.

Saundra

    Have a wonderful time!
I am looking forward to some fun time, too. Just as soon as I get a break from the chemo and labs and get the darned dental work behind me that I have had to postpone month after month, due to low white and/or red blood counts.

If you end up in Dallas, let me know and maybe we can have lunch or brunch or at least a cup of coffee.

    Cruise to Panama Canal
Hi Saundra. Blessings on your 50th anniversary! That is so wonderful. I have to tell you, that cruise is on my bucket list. I've been trying to talk my husband into going there this summer, but it may be next year now that I'm starting my new regimen of chemo on Tuesday. I know you're going to have fun. When you get back, you'll have to e-mail me and let me know about it -- especially about going through the locks! I'm jealous, but extremely happy for you!!!!
