There is a 5 month waiting period according to the firm we used, but fortunately Jeff had short term disability so that took care of us, then we filed for disability when his short term ran out. It was well worth it and yes he will get may's but it will be april when he gets it they are always a month behind remember that but if i can help further let me know
thanks

for the additional comments and information on soc sec disability. unfortunately, my husband has been unable to work since mid Dec. due not only to taking both radiation and chemo together, but also has significant leg pains that began around the time of original diagnosis of EC. He does not have any type of disability insurance so he is just "without" income right now.
There is reason to believe that since he has mets to lymphs, bones and muscles that this leg pain is from the cancer mets, but can't be confirmed by tests. Either way, he has not worked and even though he would like to return, he is physically unable. I know he thought that once he got thru these dual treatments, he might be able to, and I know he would love to work some, but right now, I can't see him going back at all. So I'm glad he has been approved, even if it is a "waiting period", I know God will provide until then.
He is already giving us our daily bread (manna) through so many blessings. I give Him all the glory for what comes our way each and every day.
I appreciate each of you sharing here. It has been most helpful and uplifting to us all.
Thanks again,

Apply for disability, decide later about the job
My hubby applied for disability and there was a 4 month waiting period, but I think they back paid it once he started getting it... I could be wrong. Do you others know?
You don't know right now how you will be feeling later, so I say apply now. No sense waiting.0 -

If he is a veteran he might be able to get temparary 100 percent disability from the va. If he is I would talk to a representive in your local are such as AMVETS american veterans association, or the Vetrans Association themselfs. From what I have read you don't have to be service connected, but not sure about that. Does not hurt to ask. There is a military section on this site where you might be able to post a question. I am service connected not 100% and the VA told me to put in for it.
