Hi. Today marks 4 weeks post op for my mastectomy. A lot of pain has stopped the past 2 days and I almost feel like my old self. Under my arm does not throb so bad and I can raise it higher for longer times. Yesterday, I met with my Medical Oncologist and she laid out my treatment plan. I will begin chemo on next Monday. First, this Thursday I will get my port. She said they want you to keep it for 2 years, some keep it for a year, and some have it removed as soon as they finish chemo-and I believe I will be one that does the latter. She said I will be on the TAC plan, which is Taxotere, Adriamycin, and Cytoxan every 3 weeks for 6 treatments. She said even though my cancer was in the early stage(2)it was a big tumor at 4 cm, so she is treating it aggressively. She said she will also refer me to radiation when I complete chemo to minimize all areas of it returning. So, I'm looking at May 7 for completing my chemo treatments since I plan to change my treatment days to Friday's so I'll have the weekend to rest (if need). She said I'll receive some meds for nausea before my treatment. She also said I will take a pill for 5 years when I finish all of my treatment, but I can't remember the name of it. She said I would take that particular pill because I had a hysterectomy (kept my ovaries)last June and have not gone into menopause yet. I felt really comfortable and ready to start the process. Tomorrow I have an appt with my Plastic Surgeon and he may give me another fill, but I'm almost to my "B" cup. Also, on another note, I made love to my husband last night, I'm not even sure how long I was supposed to wait, but it was great! Take care everyone!

    Hi rene
It's good to hear from you. I am glad that you are feeling better. Sounds like you are having the same treatment plan that I had 6 years ago. It is a rough road to travel but it is doable. Be sure to keep your eye on the light at the end of the tunnel. Remember we are here for you wheather you need advice, can give advice or just need to vent.

    Hugs
