New to this board

Hello, everyone. I am usually on the colon cancer board as my husband had colon cancer last year. I have a question for anyone who can help. My husband just had his first after chemo CT scan and it showed no metasizing. GREAT NEWS. Surgeon calls, because he is to have his first colonoscopy next week, post treatment and he said his CT showed that his esophogas is swollen so he wants to do an endoscopy also next week. I am worried that the cancer is back in a different location. I got scared because my father had esophogeal cancer many years ago. Any info as to what you might think would help.     Well, it won't be EC if it is mets
    It would be colon cancer that has moved. But if it is EC sounds like they are catching it very early...so I would think that is a great thing!

    You should let us know how the scope goes and what the doctors say.

    Thank you for the info. I just want to be prepared for next Wednesday. When he went for his colonoscopy last April, I joked said "Ah! It's just a routine exam." I won't ever do that again. For his sanity, I told him it has to do with his mucas. He doesn't need to be worried unless he has too! Thank you again and God Bless and take care. I will keep in touch. Margaret

    I agree, if it started in his colon, and now they are concerned about his esophagus, it did move from the colon to the esophagus. When ec is caught early, which most times does not happen, it is very treatable. And....we might just all be jumping the gun...he just might have a swollen esophagus from an infection of some kind. The scope will show what is going on.
    Please keep in touch and let us know how he makes out. We are quite a close knit family here on the ec discussion board. Good luck to both of you, and prayers are always being said.
    By the way...I am a caregiver for my dad, Ray, 71 EC survivor, who now has mets to his liver.
    The battle must go on! We will not win, if we do not continue to fight!

    I agree, we cannot let our Loved ones give up. There is always Hope, just have to keep up the Faith. I was one of my dad's caregivers also. God Bless. Margaret

    Hi Margaret,

    I think the Dr's are right to have a look it doesn't hurt. Your husbands esophagus could just be swollen from the chemo therapy. Most of the time scans pick this type of mets up.

    If it is then you it will be caught early and that is the key to surviving the type of cancer.

    Hopefully its nothing to worry about.
