Calling Pennsylvania survivors.....
It looks like Johns Hopkins in Baltimore may be the closest NCI Cancer Center
Does anyone have any suggestions about living in a small town in Penn as a survivor needing
onc supervision ( and hopefully not, more treatment)
Anyone have any words about Johns Hopkins and good gi oncs there???????
I am a stage 4 NED whoopeee survivor.

Johns Hopkins
Last night there was a live chat on the CCA site with Dr. Michael Choti of Johns Hopkins. His topic was colon cancer, liver mets and treatment. He was some type of department head (don't remember his exact title). Anyway, if you go to the Colon Cancer Alliance site and look around there should be his address and telephone number listed. It was listed in the live chat I just did not write it down. If you can't find it, e-mail CCA and they will get it for you. They also listed e-mail addresses for him and his nurse. Anyway, there is a good name for you to start with. Best wishes - Tina0 -

The chat was only for an hour and there were way too many questions, there were a lot of people on line. It was not an audio but just typing so there was some lag time. There is another chat that is going to take place at the end of January with the people from Vanderbuilt. I really didn't learn much that I did not already know. Some stuff I will have to look up today because I was unfamiliar with the verbiage. I thing they do this stuff every Wednesday so I will be prepared next week to ask a few questions. I have never sent a PM but going to try and send you one reiterating the notes I took - Tina0 -

Thanks alot folks for all the suggestions.
Now here is the question.....which is the closest driving time.
What about air travel?
I am from So Cal and don't have a clue about traveling in PA
I have good referrals for Hopkins from Stamos and Lenz here, but am open to all other ideas too.
Gratefully

I don't have a clue but try using google and it will give you a good idea on mileage and driving directions. Good Luck - Tina0 -
Baltimore
Serrana, one of our sons (age 38) lives in Baltimore and has Celiac Syndrome. He'd been treated for lots of other things before going to John's Hopkins and getting a correct dx. He speaks very highly of the GI doctors there.
One of our members lives there, too.
Mapquest will give you exact mileage and directions.0 -
Hey Serrana
I live in MD and am currently being treated at Georgetown. I went to Johns Hopkins for a 2nd opinion and had a wonderful experience. I will PM you with the doctor's information. Thank you, Diane for pointing me to this thread, I hope I can be helpful!

Hi Patti
My story is a three year journey including 4 surgeries, two mets to the lungs and I'd love to share it with you.
How do we do that by pm? Not sure. Let me know how. I am not really great at discussion board management. It is a story of Christian faith.
Blessings

My daughter goes to gymnastic camp near State college every summer and it is only about a 4-4 1/2 hour drive. State college is a very nice area.
