    Thank you!
I actually just bought my mom that book last week- glad to know it comes recommended! We saw it in the gift shop where she got her surgery- hopefully we get it soon. That question, along with about thirty others- haha, will be asked during her follow up appointment with the gyno/onc. They are probably going to start asking my mom to leave me at home- haha

    Best wishes to you too!

    wonderful stuff!!
I have the original recipe from a Native Am 'medicine woman' friend of mine, but it is very difficult to make. I can give you the recipe. The next best is the capsules. The name has recently changed to Ojibwa Herbal Extract if you are looking for it in a health food store. I take 4 capsules a day and have taken it all through my treatments. It will soon be 4 years!! UPSC 1C. Hope this helps. Hugs

I really did not know much about it so I googled it and found an article by Dr. Weil... You might want to check it out! He said, bottom line...avoid it. http://www.drweil.com/drw/u/id/QAA400157

It is hard to know WHAT makes sense to try these days. I am going to take a class at one of the local not for profit organizations which offer education classes for those with chronic illnesses in March on Therapeutic Uses of Supplements and the Immune System by a Naturopathic Physician. I will let you know if I find out anything "exciting"....and I will try to remember to ask her about Essiac tea!

    Antioxidants
My oncologist told me to stop the antioxidants and only take the minimal vitamins. I'm really into alternative types and love my vitamins and foods. So...I backed off during treatments and since treatments ended July of last year I'm going full strength with them all.

Never really found any alternatives which I could rely on for treatments beyond chemo and radiation. I figured I'd get the hysterectomy over, have the treatments and then help my worn out cells with all the vitamins and great foods to heal my body. Others on same thinking path?

Glad to be on this site...as this is first posting...

    Vitamins & Foods
Sorry didn't get this early to reply.

I'm on a liquid/powder mainly regimine of vitamins called Isotonix. They've helped me as don't need to be broken down like pills to enter the body. Skip the tummie and enter our systems. Been on them for one year and can't say enough good things about them. If interested I'm happy to explain more in detail, etc.

Foods? Well you name it everything that's plant related and NO FAST FOODS... No flour, margarine, fried, etc....on and on. Do eat as much from organic side of things and have learned to watch milk products which include cheese and then no red meat. If get chicken must be organic as don't have the hormones in them. Will have to post a list of some of my books on how to eat after cancer treatments.

Basics -- eat foods in natural content and avoid hormone treated meats. MUST BE PLANT BASED!!

I did go to seminar with speaker who was a Nutritionist. One thing I learned was using Olive oil is great but when it's heated it changes form and not good for us. Therefore, use a product such as Coconut Oil when cooking. Stay away from acid type foods, such as coffee....big no no! Go with green tea!

I'd love to hear what others are doing with vitamins and foods....

I am interested in what you are reading. The Anticancer Book is very good. It probably is a good general guide.

List your favorite books if you don't mind. Mary Ann

    Books~

    Mary Ann,

You know I've heard so much about the Anticancer book, but just haven't purchased or looked up at library. I'm a big Amazon gal, so if find it there I buy as tend to pick and choose parts of books to read depending on what's of interest in my life at that point in time.

Have a good friend who's a chemist and recently let go from her job, then diagnosed with breast cancer. She's very into what's good and not and has done so much research on cancer. I value her opinions as her research-based thinking has always been good. Yep she also recommends the Anticancer book.

Her book suggestion: LIFE OVER CANCER, by Keith I. Block, MD. (Amazon hard cover)

. Dietary choices that make the biochemical environment hostile to cancer growth and recurrence, and strengthen the immune system's ability to attach remaining cancer cells.

. Precise supplemtn protocols to tame treatment side affects, relieve disease-related symptoms, and modify processes like inflammation and clycemia that can fuel cancer if left untreated.

. A new paradigm for exercise and stress reduction that restores strength, reduces anxiety anddepression, and supports the body's own ability to heal.

CANCER IS NOT A DISEASE IT'S A SURVIVAL MECHANISM by Andreas Moritz

. This is very interesting to think how we could get cancer. Makes us think outside of the box.

. Discover cancer's hidden purpose, heal its root causes, and be healthier than ever

These are the most recent ones I've started to read, as mentioned I tend to move around in different parts of the book depending on where my needs are today.

Anyone have ideas for books, especially what I think most of us are needing is living life after cancer. Always open to new ideas.
