I haven't posted in over a week and have been very sick. Spent 2 days in the hospital due to low potassium from Big"D" and vommiting. I made it through Christmas with a lot of help from my grandson. I planned the menu and typed up a time line for the food preparation before my third Chemo. So he just followed what I had planned and everything came out fine. Gotta love him he did everything from baking the cookies to browining the dinner rolls and he is only 13. He even brought me a present just from him. Could not eat much of the food. Couldn't taste any of it anyway. I had a cup of yogurt after everyone left. This is my first sorta good day since Chemo but I am hoping to feel much better soon. Not sure what my onc has planned now since I am having so much trouble with chemo. This one was the worst and not sure I can handle another. He told his assistant when I called them to tell them I was in the hospital that he was going to have to rethink my Chemo. I just hope it is for the better.

My goodness I am sorry you
My goodness I am sorry you are so sick. someone recommended glutamine to me. People take it for severe GI cases and peripheral neuropathy. My D has slowed down, although I still deal with the other issue and will need surgery. I have also been getting aliter of fluid with each chemo and that has helped me get ahead of the game and tolerate the week at least tanked up to start. I am also taking potassium supplements. i am sure you are on supplements. do they give you extra IV fluids? I forget (chemo brain) what are you receiving for chemo? people receive all kinds. maybe they could change it. Your grandson sounds awesome. What a mature wonderful kid.

    OH my, I hate electrolyte
OH my, I hate electrolyte imbalances! I was just in the hospital for 4 days before Christmas. But mine wasn't due to D&V it was do mostly to my Celiac which did give me too frequent BM's I guess. They aren't sure why all my numbers were off. I know CHEMO gals really have to watch your electrolyte imbalances. A calcium imbalance will give you numbness and timgling in your face. It is the weirdest feeling! also watch for numbness and tingle-ing/buzzing in your legs. I thought I had motors running in my calfs. My vision got blurry also. Please watch for all these signs, don't dely calling your Dr.s

Sheesh, if it wasn't enogh having breast cancer this summer! I was so happy to finish my RADS last Thursday, then this electrolyte thing happened.!

Why can't I say tingle ing?

    have they given you
have they given you compazine? I took decadron for 3 days after chemoas well. its pretty hard to deal with both ends and stay hydrated. some people try holistic methods. ginger root. with honey. I hope I am not being annoying but amend, decadron, zofran, compazine and ativan help have you tried all these?

    I switched to emend and
I switched to emend and Kytril and that did the trick for me. Zofran and compazine didnt do it for me. I had the opposite, serious constipation. Hope you are doing better today. Chemo is tough hope they get it all figued out for you. Our bodies are all so different and so are our reactions and responses to treatments. I call cancer treatment a crap shoot, or like "a box of chocolates" you never know what you are going to get. a prayers being sent your way.

    what about desensitization?
I am far from sayng it is the cure all for chemo rections.
IF they can figure what chemo drug is making you so sick, there is a process done at some hospitals called desensitization. It is also used for diabetics who are allergic to the insulin.
Basicaly, same drugs, just "watered" down and administered. It only takes once and your body is all set for whatever more they need to give.
No clue if this is the case,if you want more info email me
    Peace

I never took kytril, I took
I never took kytril, I took ativan in between for the nausea it ia an antianxiety but helps with nausea, i made sure I took it before i went to sleep so i woould not wake up nauseated in the middle of the night. Zofran made me constipated too. I found I ate very little and was sensative. If I ate rice it had to be a small amt or I would be constipated. You wake up every day whats it going to be this day? 3 more you have. seems like forever, I know but you have 3 down that is an accomplishment.!!!!
